Repowering

For dependability in remote places, Totem’s aging engine was due for replacement. We’ll break down the β€œwhys” of that decision and what we’re getting, plus install process details.

Hull & Deck Upgrades

We’re not ashamed of being scruffy, but we’re adamant about safety. When hull paint and deck hardware crossed from well-used into safety or structural issues, big changes were necessary.

Interior improvement

Veneer from the early 1980s that’s bubbled or peeled. Laminate wearing through to fiberboard. Patchy carpentry work. Time to cleanup and beautify for Totem’s 40th birthday.

Systems Updates

Some gear dates to before our circumnavigation - some even older! Others are cyclical needs. These updates are intended to carry us through the next decade or more.

WHAT WE DO

TRU Cruising Coaching

Does the freedom of cruising call you? We’re mentoring people to answer those questions, whether they’d like to explore a familiar coastline or sail around the world.

Cruising Sailmaker

Jamie draws on years of experience as a professional sailor, sailmaker, and full time cruiser to benefit other sailors, whether you are across the anchorage or across an ocean.

Motivational Speaking

We’ve worked with groups from under 10 to over 10,000: let us customize a presentation that suits your audience or organization, with inspiration from our life on the water.

Voyaging With Kids

When our kids were babies and Jamie and I were lining up our exit strategy, none of the books on the chandlery shelves gave us a satisfactory answer to those burning questions.

WHO WE ARE

family-afloat-big.jpg

Hi! I’m Behan.

I love sailing, I love traveling, I love sharing stories and photos from our adventures. I am grateful every day to be living this crazy/wonderful nomadic life with my family. In more than eight years of cruising with my kids, sailing around the world, I’ve learned a lot–and, I like sharing from that knowledge. It’s my hope that by relating our adventures, misadventures, favorite places or lifestyle tips I can make this feel approachable. My goal: inspire others to take the leap towards living more adventurously, whatever that means to them.
