Had the opportunity to join #COP28 earlier this month with United Nations Youth Office . Plenty of emotions and even more reflections from this two weeks trip but if there’s any short takeway that I would really highlight is that the resilient of people, in particular young people, is the world’s best bet to change the course of climate crisis. If you’ve seen the news, you’ve probably have seen the relentless work that’s being led by youth from across the world for #climateaction, often uncredited and underresourced but never once short on solidarity and empathy. Ahead of #COP28, happy to have the opportunity to join #DubaiFutureForum , largest gathering of futurists 💡, hosted by DUBAI FUTURE FOUNDATION ! A lot of insightful takeaways (and thought-provoking questions!) but personally, am excited to see more conversations that highlight how intersectionality could define our future, hope and optimism for #futuregeneration, and the role that #youth have to shape it! Big shout out and congratulations to UNICEF - UNICEF Innocenti and all the Youth Foresight Fellows who launched the first-ever Youth Foresight Playbook👏🏼✨ Foresight should be made accessible to youth, and this playbook does exactly that as it highlights the power of engaging youth meaningfully. Here in Dubai early to attend #COY18 , sharing few quick highlights✨: 1️⃣ we had the opportunity to co-organize a youth-led session on #ClimateFinance and Investing in Youth for #ClimateAction with Climate Investment Funds! A few months ago, through our Youth Force programme we echoed this call for the need to invest in youth, and it’s exciting to be able to further call on this again through this session. We looked into both intro to climate financing but also discussed the importance of investing in youth and having youth directly engaged whether as experts or as solutions makers and partners, all led by Omran Younis and Jevanic Henry 👏🏼 2️⃣ The Global Youth Statement was launched by YOUNGO ! 🙌🏽 The GYS this year gathered +750,000 from across 150 countries to deliver concrete climate policy demands from young people to the world. 🌎🌍🌏 If you havent, please check them out here⬇️ https://lnkd.in/ey5ixsph Looking forward to seeing these youth-led work and recommendations echoed and uplifted in #COP28 this week. 3️⃣ Glad to meet and reunited with familiar faces, who are working on the intersection of climate and inclusivity, including Sylvain OBEDI K and many others✨ Congrats once again to all the organizers, YOUNGO and partners!
