Update: WOW — I was not expecting such a huge reaction to this post! Thanks everyone who's contributed to the discussion! The amazing Dessy Chongarova has adapted this framework into a newer version which I actually love, easier to read, understand and combined some of the areas: https://lnkd.in/gRYqYZZV — Research Skills Matrix A few years ago I built a research skills matrix to help understand the different skill levels in the research team and hopefully focus professional development for myself and anyone interested in research. While not perfect I found it was an excellent conversation starter about current capabilities and helped new researchers and myself understand what to expect in a research role. I’ve been sharing it individually in the ReOps+ slack channel and thought there might be some people here who would find this beneficial to themselves and their own team, so feel free to check it out, and if it looks interesting download a copy and adapt it to your team! Research Skills Matrix link: https://lnkd.in/gaBCivJ Some of the thinking behind the setup: — The more skilled you get, the more autonomous you become in designing and conducting research. — This is an “in practice” matrix, it assumes the mastery level exists when you are actively practicing/teaching/leading the skill — the idea was our practical knowledge lessens the less we’re engaged in a skill, so you could only have “mastery” of a few skills at a time. — There is massive room to improve on this version, so if you use it make sure you put your own organisational context into your version! Thanks Jared Bon, Jessica Vitez & Peter Grierson who helped build, test and support the creation of this! If you are interested in a longer conversation about this let me know :D #uxresearch #ux #usdesign #designresearch

3yI sent this to myself in slack so when I had time I could easily come back to this post. Well today is the day, my friend. Thank you. 🙏🏾 Will refer to this often and share with other research nerd friends. 😄
