From Egg to Table- Sourcing Chickens Locally with Melissahof Farm in Lander, Wyoming
What does it mean to be truly sustainable?
I almost didn't raise chickens this year because I couldn't justify one more year of shipping chicks from the Midwest and losing about half of them due to the mailing process and climate shift challenges associated with raising meatbirds in Wyoming at 7000+ feet in elevation.
But, thanks to Melissa Hemken of Melissahof Farm and Hatchery in Lander, Wyoming we are trying out a more sustainable alternative through EatWyoming
Listen to my interview with Melissa to hear about why she started raising and hatching her own chickens, and how she is participating in her local food system to change the way we eat- one egg and one chicken at a time!
Want to try out some of these heritage meat birds in your freezer? You can reserve yours for 2 more weeks on our website: www.Tasteofthewind.com.

Taste of the Wind Podcast AWESOME!
BJ so proud of you! Very informative on raising grass fed beef. I was raised in Ohio and my parents had gardens. We were raised on nature vegetables and natural beef. Each year my parents order a half of cow from a local farmer. Fresh meat, canned and frozen vegetables. I see more people going back to this way of life. Awesome job on your first podcast. Can’t wait to hear more!
