The Rainbow Arcade is a diverse team of LGBTQIA+ streamers dedicated to providing a fun, positive safe-space on Twitch for the entire LGBTQIA+ community.

The LGBTQIA+ community is incredibly diverse, and every story within our community deserves to be heard and uplifted. The Rainbow Arcade is committed to intersectional diversity and inclusion, which goes beyond sexual identity and includes minority representation, gender identity, disability access, and more!

Community Empowerment

LGBTQIA+ individuals - in content creation and daily life - still need to fight for a seat at the table. The Rainbow Arcade seeks to bring together diverse LGBTQIA+ voices to help fight for and propel queer creators on Twitch and beyond.

Community Building and Safety

The Rainbow Arcade seeks to create safe spaces on Twitch for the LGBTQIA+ family. Every team member is fully dedicated to ensuring safety for viewers and our communities - both on and off of Twitch - no matter how one identifies.

We are just as committed to fighting for our LGBTQIA+ family as we are committed to amplifying positivity and having fun! Every Rainbow Arcade team member is unique (you can find anything from chaotic-fun to cozy-fun), but each one is so excited to welcome you to their communities and wrap you up into fun gaming, art, and IRL experiences.

What is the Rainbow Arcade?

The Rainbow Arcade is a team of LGBTQIA+ content creators dedicated to building inclusive, safe, and welcoming communities on Twitch and in the greater gaming community. LGBTQIA+ content creators still need to fight for a seat at the table. Because of this, it is our mission to ensure that LGBTQIA+ voices are heard in gaming and beyond, while also providing communities for viewers to feel seen, safe, and respected.

Why was the LGBTQIA+ tag removed on Twitch?

The LGBTQIA+ tag was the only tag that dealt with identity. This created issues on who should be allowed to use the tag (e.g., allies or just LGBTQIA+ individuals) as well as giving harassers and trolls easy targets. Removal of the tag will help to alleviate both these issues. Twitch’s decision to remove the tag comes as a result of seeking to protect both viewers and streamers.

Why Rainbow Arcade?

The Rainbow Arcade stream team is an all-encompassing, exclusively LGBTQIA+ stream team. The mission of the team is to promote diversity & inclusion, advocate for community empowerment, build safe communities, and spread positivity. There are so many amazing LGBTQIA+ streamers, and our goal is to support all - regardless of being a team member - to the best of our abilities on Twitch and beyond.

How is the Rainbow Arcade affiliated with Twitch?

We are not employed by Twitch. We do not have the power to enact changes. However, we have been asked to help be a voice and resource for the LGBTQIA+ community on the platform. The Rainbow Arcade is not the only voice for the LGBTQIA+ community, and we will never pretend that we are. Twitch will continue working with both the Rainbow Arcade and the entire LGBTQIA+ community regarding issues that are most pressing to the entire LGBTQIA+ community.

With these changes, what comes next?

We will always strive to be a voice for the LGBTQIA+ community on Twitch. This will involve learning and growing together with the community during these changes. If you have suggestions or need clarity around any issues, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Additionally, please hold us accountable and be willing to work with us to ensure that we always do our best. The LGBTQIA+ community is strongest when we work together, and we want to make sure that the entire community feels supported, seen, and heard on Twitch.

Lastly, you do not need to be a team member to get involved. Throughout the year, we seek input and submissions from non-team members. How can I get involved even if I’m not a member of the Rainbow Arcade?

Our mission is to be a voice for the entire LGBTQIA+ community on Twitch to the best of our abilities. At this time applications are closed, and will remain so as we review & revamp our application process. Once they open again, we will announce on social media channels. Be sure to follow RA on twitter to keep up to date with news and announcements regarding the team.

Additionally, the Rainbow Arcade seeks to amplify the voice of LGBTQIA+ content creators year round. We have already worked hard to promote non-team member streamers as well as viewers and community members (for example, during Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we sent out calls to the community-at-large to be involved in raising awareness and celebrating). Please keep an eye out on our team Twitter at @rnbw_arcade and on our website for these calls-for-submission.
