“I’ve had the pleasure of being under the amazing leadership of Elena for my entire coaching career. She generously poured into me as I was getting my coaching certification. And, after graduation Elena has been such an incredible mentor who has stretched me in so many ways. Aside from her kind, patient and nurturing nature she is a powerhouse when it comes to getting the job done efficiently and effectively. I’ve watched her build the infrastructure of LUMO with such brilliance and grace. She is truly an inspiration to me and so many others who get to be in her presence.”

How can you determine if a team meeting has been effective?
This is so critical to the success of a meeting - and ultimately - moving work forward. My ream recently adopted the EOS system which includes the Level 10 meeting structure. In the last 5 minutes at the end of the meeting, we ask the team to rate the meeting on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most effective. If anyone rates it lower than an 8, we ask what could make it a 10. This is not about perfection, but asking IN THE MOMENT about how we can create a more effective meeting. It love this strategy and highly recommend it!

What strategies can you use to prepare your team for a major organizational transition?
Support, support, support. Provide many different formats and time horizons for employees to get supported through the change. Too often, a change is made and then there is an expectation that everyone should get it and be on board with it - after one quick 15 minutes all hands. Since we are human beings we are dynamic and complicated beings and will all metabolize the changes in our own ways. One of the tactics I have seen work is to provide various forums (office hours, 1:1s, peer ambassador support, trainings, etc) for people to come and ask questions, be heard and get supported - days or even weeks post change announcement and then continually through online the change.
