New week, new luck! 🌟 Welcome to a behind-the-scenes at my office at the @o8Labs in Starnberg.* As you can see, I have a massive Vintage schoolboard on one of the walls, and it gives me (and sometimes agency clients who come over to workshop) lots of playground. Last week it was full of sticky notes, this here shows what I often do: I would pin one, two, three helpful reminders there for the week. In this case, it was: 📌 "Feel free to break things." (this is coming in from the startup realm and while one shouldn't overdo it, it can be helpful to get unstuck if you have perfectionist issues - a huge tendency of mine). 📌 "Refuse to create from a negative place." This is especially helpful if you need to create something bold to sell yourself or your products and some depressing BS happened. No need to go super fancy, for me the right playlist 🎵 and/or a run can make all the difference. 📌 "See (and love) yourself first." This autumn, life had arranged things in a way that made it necessary to see my dear husband first, for good reason, for quite some time. Re-learning to take care of myself first (you know, that oxygen mask 😉) is astonishingly hard. I might put this up again this week. Which mantras would be on your school board? Do you maybe use something similar, such as sticky notes, to keep a reminder front and center? You can’t build a high-converting webshop yourself, you need external eyes to do it. Making it easy to buy from you is the first step into a high-converting webshop. However… It’s impossible not to become biased of your own creation (IKEA-effect). It’s impossible to honestly judge something when you’re proud of that same thing (your webshop). It’s impossible to have a first-time experience when you’ve seen that same webshop for many many years. You need external eyes to truly find the bottleneck in your buying process How to solve this? 1️⃣ Talk to first-time customers. Call them, and ask them about their experience. Go into detail. 2️⃣ Session recordings of purchases. Tools like Hotjar & Mouseflow will do the job here. 3️⃣ Real-life participant experiment.  Get 10 participants that don’t know you or your business. And ask them to buy something, and just observe. It’s that simple. And the insights you get are invaluable.

Do you know what I found most fulfilling as a founder? The moment I realized: My WordClock solved real problems for my clients. My builtyours.de kit inspired someone to showcase their creativity. My (Frithjof Maschke) journey gave someone the courage to take their first step. These moments remind me of the times I worked the hardest to make it all happen: Building both platforms from scratch. Keeping them alive through COVID’s toughest days. Turning every setback into an opportunity to grow. Why do niche events offer greater opportunities than large ones? Two weeks, three events… We closed out October yesterday with the Impact Festival in Frankfurt. I'm a huge fan of smaller, focused events. Gathering around niche topics and exchanging ideas feels like reuniting with classmates each year. At these kinds of events, the chance to dive into details and exchange ideas without rushing really makes a difference. Different perspectives and products come together within a specific concept, all aiming toward the same goal. In such a compact setting, you not only gain knowledge but also plant seeds for the future. With so many start-ups attending these events, it’s priceless to see the products I first encountered here grow and realize their potential over the years. Here's to more events where all facets of sustainability—like circular economy and energy—are discussed, applied, and create new motivation, just like at Kongress BW two weeks ago or today at the Impact Festival! And, of course, thoughtful details like Impact Festival's childcare service for working parents ❤️
