GCP.com Sold for $550,000 via Sedo

Yesterday morning, Dave Evanson, Senior Broker at Sedo, reported the sale of GCP.com for $550,000. The domain name was sold via Sedo:

At the present time, GCP.com is registered to Sedo’s transfer service email address, so the buyer is not yet known. If I had to take a guess about who bought the domain name, I would be surprised if it wasn’t Google acquiring it for its Google Cloud Platform. There are a few other companies that use the GCP initials for their brand, but Google is the largest by far.

GCP.com had been privately registered since 2008, but Screenshots.com shows it had been used by a company called GCP Design + Marketing. The domain name forwards to that company’s website found at GCPAgency.com, so it would appear that the seller has an alternative domain name in use.

It is early in the year, but this sale will rank as one of the top ten public domain name sales of 2022 to date. It is the largest publicly reported 3 letter .com domain name sale of the year. It also ranks as one of the top publicly reported 3 letter .com domain name sales recorded on Embrace.com.
