PR and Communications Strategist | Crafting compelling narratives and building strategic partnerships that elevate your brand’s image and business growth.
During political elections, social media, especially Twitter, transforms into a battleground where misinformation, video abuse, and image tampering run rampant. The speed of spreading false information online is alarming. Drawing from my experience in three gubernatorial campaigns, our 'No Response' approach underscores the need for documenting our activities through pictures and videos. This allows us to shape our narrative and influence wise decision-making. Digital media holds immense potential, and its impact in politics depends on how well it's harnessed for engagement, feedback, and listening to the people. #StrategicCommunication #Storytelling

Turning Data into Growth! I am a Digital Marketing Strategy Leader helping companies leverage data to improve their ROI.
Are the days of "All PR is Good PR" coming to an end? Once upon a time, I asked the head of a PR department, "How do you score negative PR?" The answer was the same as all other PR, after all pretty much all PR was considered good for the brand. It seems the tides are shifting. In recent years, I think we have actually witnessed brands leaning into this idea more than they would care to admit. The weekend after Thanksgiving in 2022, I sat in an NYC café with my husband watching news break on BALENCIAGA's unfortunate advertising campaign. My husband questioned how such a massive miss could be made and it return, I wondered if it was on purpose. Surely, with the number of people who had to sign off on such a campaign, the decision to allude to BDSM with children was a choice to make headlines in the hopes that some new people, like my husband, would remember the name Balenciaga and forget why. Unfortunately, I think the numbers are starting to proof out for these companies that not all PR is good PR. While not all bad PR is truly bad for your company, offending your core customers and stake holders will have a negative effect on your bottom line. I don't think politics and controversy will disappear from the corporate landscape. However I do think that corporations will consider if they are offending anyone before blindly supporting their employees who feel they must be the "moral compass" of a company. What I see is missing from these articles is how these protestors can often go too far. Living in the same neighborhood as the Israeli embassy, I myself, a non-jewish person, have found myself accosted by a slew of anti-Semitic hate speech while walking my son to and from his daycare. In fact, this past Friday, I had to explain to a "protestor" that while his want for peace in Gaza is admirable, yelling in the faces of literal children on their way to and from school is not the way to do it. In very much the same vein, perhaps Bud Light will consider how they can support the rights of those in the trans community without stooping to poke fun at the intelligence of all women. While companies should allow their employees to be a moral compass to guide them. They should also be wary of those who allow political view points to fog or break their moral compass. We should all be aiming to a place of open discussion of bettering our world without insulting our neighbor. https://lnkd.in/gAXC4iSz #corporateactivism #workplace #culture #activism

*** Hate Monster Comms Campaign *** This campaign was launched by the Police Scotland this week. There have been many discussions around the concept of hate crimes but that is for other arenas. Wearing my professional men's communications hat though - what is startling is the thought process of the Comms team, any agencies and those who signed it off in singling out all disadvantaged young men. And what impact that will have on them? And did they even think about it or even care? The text is in the image below and campaign is here: https://lnkd.in/eWbRi_59 There has been a welcome change in the last few years in rejecting the terrible demonising term "toxic masculinity". Plus waking up to the fact that castigating all young men as being a problem because of the behaviour of a very small number makes matters worse for the whole group. It doesn't address those small few - or address the causes. It makes all young men who are struggling feel even more that no one cares and is basically saying all young men from disadvantaged backgrounds commit hate crime. Talk about stigmatising and self-fulfilling. Plus why is a police force choosing politically charged ideological phrases such as 'male entitlement (which doesn't exist anyway). If you are a young man in a poor area of Glasgow, in a single parent household, in a poor school with little encouragement or opportunity. But supposedly you are entitled. This to me has been produced by a Comms team/agency steeped in ideology, who have hardly (if ever) spent any time with young men from these backgrounds and certainly don't care about the impact of their demonisation. 41% of sixth formers have been told in school lessons that young men are a problem for society. Now the police in Scotland are saying it too. This is an awful and counter productive communications campaign. Wrong on so many levels in its portrayal of disadvantaged young men.
