It was an honor to talk with Ann Gynn about what it was like to work on #TheContentEntrepreneur with an unbelievable group of 32 other humans.
What do I think was the single most important element of our success?
Being on the same page from day 1. We believed, as a group, that this book could provide real value to other content entrepreneurs. Everyone in that room almost a year ago was focused on one thing - helping others find a path to to content business success.
I told Ann, “If you don’t care about the product itself more than you care about what you will get from it as an individual, it will not work. And if everybody on the team is not seeing the same vision at the start, it will not work.”
For me, this is just as true for my academic journal articles. I do research I care about - always have, always will - and I write books I care about. Just like this one.
Better yet? All of the proceeds go to The Orange Effect Foundation. And when Joe Pulizzi brought that up in the room full of authors, there was not one person who objected.
That is how I know the people behind this book care about the book - and the value it can bring - as much as I do.
When I launched The Engaged Professor earlier this year, I knew it would be a few months before I could really dive in and build it out to be what I envision it as in my brain. But I didn't want to wait because I care so about the message and believe in the value of the content.
That, my friends, is the way to happiness in your work.
Do something you believe in. Care about it with all your heart. Give more than you take.
