The choices you make define the person you become.

A man wakes up alone in the rain and with no memory of who he is. He soon falls prey to a hungry goblin tribe.

With no options available to them, the pair turns to a graceful vulpine alchemist and former lover of the orc huntress to unravel the mystery of the man’s powers and existence. They will need their wits and each other to overcome a perilous journey of murderous bandits, corrupted queens, and unknown horrors spawning from magical portals.

Not a good as I remembered it
-2023 After rereading this book, I've knocked it down one star. There are a LOT of errors-

I read this book two years ago and liked it a lot. After acquiring the last two books in the series I thought I start over from book 1. Sadly on rereading this book it is not as good as I thought it was, and I couldn't finish book 2 a second time. Oh well, so much for finishing the series.
-What changed? #1 my good impression of the characters.
On the first reading I felt that Tempest was a nice, likeable dude I could get along with, and he mostly is. But manipulable and approval seeking aren't exactly the same as nice. He'd like to be nice and that counts for a lot.
His two companions are less funny, Especially The orc chick (Rikka?) where I'd read her as something of a comedy character the first time, she is a violent, jealous, manipulative mess with very poor judgement and no impulse control.

This book is strongly reminiscent of Mask of the Template with a few elements from everywhere else all over the map, and it has a lot of niggling little linguistic flaws. There are a lot of malapropisms. Also for some reason Mr. Lygan decided to make the Dwarves in his world very tall. (Don't know why that bugged me. it's his book he could make them green if he wanted to)

I was quite enthusiastic at first, but as the story went on I lost interest... It never captured my attention again and I forced myself to try and finish it but it was simply going from bad to worse at that point (80%).

Terrific narration.

Very very similar to Mask of the Template by Cebelious. Kept expecting "Tempest" to be called "Template".

Man wakes in a strange world, must discover his role to save corrupted world, sex with multiple women will increase everyone's powers.

Virtually no sex between MCs until the last few pages.

3.5 stars. Somewhat decent take on the harem/poly genre. I felt the major fights ended kinda anticlimactic and the main character got really annoying and always predictable at the end, but the women were pretty well written. The sex scenes were neither here nor there, but they're somewhat palatable as long as you don't mind m-f content too much. Missed the opportunity to write about both ladies in detail. Their steamy content was left out of screen, unfortunately. But their relationship past and present was interesting to read about.

Hey down to earth main character high fantasy novel

I really enjoyed this story so far the main character starts out simple and slowly becomes more. He learns more about himself at first he starts out with no memories and the slow development of his character is well done. I really enjoyed the world building and their interaction of the characters it was a lot of fun to read and sometimes thought. It also had humor and drama and a little bit of horror as well. I for one would love to read the next book in the series hope it comes soon. Oh and also the slow slow romance burn was interesting as well and did not detract from the story.

Creative Action

The story keeps a nice slow pace all throughout, with moments of heavy action, and teasing titillation. It was fun to simply sit back and enjoy the ride. I look forward to the next book in the series. Recommended (16+)

An amazing book

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. It's very character centered, though the action is awesome. Give it a shot, you'll like it.

Fun story, good characters

Fun story, good characters who develop amd grow. Not always found, but it is a slow burn. It isn't breakneck so it is subtle. I am looking forward to seeing more.

Great start

A teasing build to the end but very nice foundational work creating a world and characters that can grow and carry interest in future books (note.. very light on adult theme scenes, don't expect characters to just get busy, character not sex driven story line

Good book needs more artwork

It had some painfully slow parts. Ending was great it made up for it. I can't wait for the next book!

When the companions were not involved, this was a fantastic book with well built world and a cool story line, I would've given this book a 4 or 5 star if it hadn't been for them...

They save him when he is captured, then walk around like he is required to do as they say the entire book. The don't form any relationship with him but acts like he committed adultery if a woman was so much as in close contact with him. If they had bounds that would be a reasonable thing if they had communicated there desires to him in anyway but instead treat him like an idiot while expecting him to read their minds. It's even more infuriating because he has no societal knowledge nor true understanding of what his relationships in this world should act as. It was a constant line of whining the entire book.

This is a case of it just gets worse the more you read.

The main character is a joke who does whatever he is told, will believe anything a woman tells him and just generally proves himself to be useless. The actions of others make no sense, the story is forced forward with unbelievable writing. As things progress you stop caring more and more as you stop caring what choices are made. None of them matter, the story will proceed regardless and will not matter in the slightest.

An ok read

Not bad, but not great. The MC is a little too beta. He is overly nice to the point of making him a joke.

*Audio book review*
Gave up on this, as the story had a way of going no where fast. Simply said, the book was boring and just a tease all the way to the end. Don't get me wrong, the world building is interesting; it is just the residents and the protagonist of the world is a total bore. Okay, So the world doesn't seem to have humans so you can guess that the MC is the only human and he has amnesia. Meaning he is pretty much a clean slate...also the MC has the personality of a bland potato as the writer made him "full retard". Heck, I am not sure what his power really...except he has a magic dick and every girl wants him. Heck, during battles his "energy" level is always changing and he fights like he is going to die any minuet unless he gets saved. So for some reason, the book seems to focus on his sidekicks which is weird as their problem seems boring and predictable as well. What is even worse, the whole relationship or the sexy parts tend to always edging the reader. All this felt like it was written by a female writter as the whole book seems to be for women who enjoy softcore porn. The plot has a lot of coincidence and I could not understand the motivation of the MC and the side characters. What really turned me off on this book; is when one of the character had a shot of kill the big bad guy in 20 seconds with an axe swing but stop turns around and goes to help the MC. WHY? dear god, if i had a gun on Hitler I would take the 10 seconds to unload a whole clip into his ass instead of helping my team mate fight the rest of the MOB. Trust me, this book is long winded and goes no where fast and the MC's motivation and purpose doesn't make any sense. Like I said, "FULL RETARD."

A good beginning but poorly paced.

The books has a lot of thing going on for it but the thing is that the pacing its all over the place, it starts good with a lot of mystery and the way the world is presented its great but the more you go along the story the quality start to drop significantly and when the book it's supposed to give a challenge to the MC everything just happens in a instant and its all over, no build up or any real climax - it just feel that the author just blitz through the scenes he didn't know how to write well just to get it over with and get back to the slice life sections where the "development" of the MC goes through. Other thing that it needs to work with its the MC, he doesn't really have any significant development during the hole story and he it's just naive and bland - actually the characters that do have some development are the two companions of the MC.

I really do believe that these book has a lot of potential but it really needs to work with its MC and make him more relatable or at least with a personality. The companions are actually well written, they do need a couple of adjustments but nothing mayor and the pacing really need a overhauled to make it work.

Hopefully it gets better along the way and most likely won't be reading the next book - I I'm tempted to keep going but at least in the near future it's not happening.

Hope this helps someone.

This was a very great book from one of my favorite authors! I loved the characters and the dynamic between them! I also loved the world, magic system, and the vastness of the landscape. It was truly a great book one to this series that I will continue to read.

The one thing that I didn’t enjoy as much was the lack of smut or not having enough, coupled with the somewhat green nature of the MC at times. He could have and probably should have had relationships with nearly every female in this book, but acts very shy and green around women, even though he is a hero. But, that could be just me being a horny person, lol.

Ajax Lygan became one of my favorite authors from a story called A March across Ethna (hope I spelled that right) where you have a large cast of characters and when they fuck it is..well..you have a mental orgasm. Dude can write smut. This book didn’t have it as much but when it did it was golden, which makes me think there is more to come (cum) in the future.

Again, great start! 4/5!

Missing Plot Points

Keep in mind these are only my opinion but I think the story was okay.

I liked the fact that the author took his time building the MC relationship with the two woman but I don't really like Riika character. She comes off as entitled and possessive. She jumps to conclusions and gets angry when things don't go her way. Ella should have been the main focus to me.

The other point that annoyed me is the fact that in the beginning Tempest smell used to set woman off and make them want him yet after the forgotten first 2 woman (goblin and arachne) felt the effects it was never mentioned since...ever. there were times that 3 woman got up close and personal with his body and yet, NOTHING, not even a tingle. What was the point of mentioning he had this ability if you are just going to throw it away. After that the story dropped for me and I got progressively bored and just finished it

I'll admit, I was reluctant to finish this book. It was very slow at parts. There was a lot of world building that seemed to force the main narrative into the back seat. However, this book succeeded at intriguing me enough to continue onto the second book, which is much better.

After finishing the series, this book feels like a test. If you can manage to complete it and carry on to the remaining three entries, you'll be greatly rewarded. Despite its flaws, this series has made me feel something I haven't felt in a very long time. The Aspect series does a fantastic job of telling a story that you wish you were a part of.

I would highly recommend the audiobook version narrated by Rebecca Woods. She knocks it out of the park.

DNF

This book is about a doormat. The first 25% is interesting but it's all just straight down afterwards.

Bland main protagonist with overutilized supporting characters that are equally as bland with typical back stories. Another review said it right about the characters going "Full Retard".

Relationships are forced as everyone the MC meets become his babysitter. Nothing truly develops until the end and that is if you even get there.

World building attempts to tease but it just fails to add any intrigue. The author tries way too hard at keeping you from the "truth" but that just leaves you annoyed for most of the book as you already figured it out. So you feel that all the characters must be idiots for not realizing something so simple.

Read this book if you like romance written by an author that try to write the male MC into a full on parasite that depends on the females to do everything for him.

3.5 stars. Pacing was off, it has a hell of a lot of anachronisms in the dialogue, and what was being set up as a major "power" of the MC at the beginning of the book disappears and is only even mentioned (and not as a significant factor) again at the very end.

I'll try the next one, but if it continues to near-mortally wound the MC every time he gets in a fight I'll likely give up.
