"Betrayal is like a snake; either it slithers and blindsides you, or the attack will be so swift, you’ll be struck before you could blink. Either way, prepare to suffer.”

With the revelation Luxor Everstone is the daughter of the Prince of Darkness, an entirely new door fraught with danger is opened. As Cane lays in wait, Luxor is forced to have constant protection, leaving her suffocated.

When new help arrives in the form of a witch, and a mysterious and dreamy boy who seems to soothe her more than anyone else can, she doesn’t hesitate to invite them into her life despite her growing affection for Hunter.

As fresh dangers loom on the horizon, she begins to unravel different details about her past, while greater powers are introduced, and the others continue to evolve. Conflicted between the pull toward her darkness and her desire to be good, Luxor juggles the priorities—and her opinionated guardians—while trying to find some semblance of balance.

When the darkness returns to claim her completely, can she trust herself to make the right choice?

I'm an indie author and have published my debut Unveiled (The Chronicles of Luxor Everstone) on June 2020. The sequel Betrayed will be published on November 19th 2020. I'm a mother of two boys, a self confessed nerd who loves to write dark and twisted characters in modern settings. You could find feisty MC’s and bad boys with filthy mouths. Doesn’t mean I don’t love to read or write saucy romances too!

Betrayed was absolutely sensational! Picking up from the first book, we follow Luxor's path and get a few surprises along the way.

This book is my favourite of the series and holds a lot more depth than the first one. It also raises a lot more questions which (I hope) will be answered in the next book.

There's a lot in this book, and it gets a lot more emotional towards the end. There was plenty of action, deceit and angst. The plot twists surprised me in a good and weird way, and just loke Luxor left me confused as to who to trust.

A lot of characters surprised me in the book, and some changed my mind whereas others didn't. Ayla, Hunter. It was like a whirlwind to figure out these characters, but the one that surprised me the most was Theo. I'm intrigued by his character and hope to find out more about him.

This book was action-packed. It was fantastical stuff that nightmares were made of. If anything, it did not make me envy Luxor at all. All I wanted to do was higher and take her out of the nightmare that was her life. It was very intense.

And Meredith. I am very curious about Meredith.

Betrayed was an intense, action-packed, fantastical mystery of a read with a lot of angst and emotional moments. Reading more of Luxor's life was very intriguing anf addictive, and I cannot wait to read more of her story.

What's next for Luxor, I'm intrigued but scared for her at the same time.

Highly recommended!

Betrayed is YA paranormal Romance, and is book two in the Luxor Everstone Chronicles.

In this version of the Nephilim story, Luxor is the daughter to the all mighty, Lucifer. She has over whelming powers, that are constantly evolving. Luxor had a rough start in book 1, but now that she is unveiled and has a support team to help her she should turn into a glorious, butt kicking heroine right?
Nope.
She throws a tantrum, hurting people in the process and refuses all the help she’s been offered. Causing more damage and hurt every time someone says something she doesn’t like.

Every chapter Luxor’s feelings were completely flipped, from tolerating /liking someone, to hating their entire existence, being friends or maybe more, to kissing other people! And not just Luxor, but Hunter and Ayla and even Evie! No one could just keep one thought process throughout!

Everyone of these sneaky “good people” has ulterior motives for everything they do. No one is truly there for Luxor. Painfully Luxor can’t, or won’t see this, and things get a little wild.

Alas, the ending gave us some reveals of character, and some intense moments, left us with lots of questions and another cliff hanger, so buckle up, Betrayed is one bumpy ride.

This is the second book in the Chronicles of Luxor Everstone. Luxor was Unveiled in the first book and after all the drama and heartache that she went through she doesn't want to be close to anyone. She just wants space.

I appreciated getting more of Astrid and Orion's stories. Luxor's father is still after her and she doesn't know who to trust. Just as she gets close to someone she uncovers some untruth or betrayal, small or large that just chips away at her heart.

Luxor wants to be able to control her powers and those around her are trying to help her but all sides aren't truthful enough to be helpful. No one seems to understand what she is going through and is constantly making her out to be irrational. Typical teen behavior!

The relationship between Hunter and Luxor developed and grew even more. I will cross my fingers for them! There might have been a wedge that someone tried to place in between them, ok maybe a few wedges.

We get to meet some new characters and learn more about characters we met at the end of the first book. Some of the new characters have some cool abilities and very interesting personalities.

She was able to still go to school while investigating a bunch of stuff that was happening. Way better work ethic than I remember having with extracurriculars in high school.

It is really hard to not give anything away! So many things happen in this book you have to read more than the beginning to really get into all the action.

I was lucky enough to be able to read a partial early copy of this book but that doesn't bias my opinion.

Thank you The Next Step PR for the ARC copy for my voluntary and honest review.

Betrayed is the second book in the young adult Sci Fi/Fantasy series of "The Chronicles of Luxor Everstone". Luxor's mother, Astrid was a sweet, kind, pure of heart human who died during her birth and its finally been revealed that her father Cane is the Prince of Darkness. Cane is desperate for a daughter but for what purpose is yet to be revealed. Luxor is trying to fight the darkness within but continually finds herself in trouble and losing control. No one seems to be who they are, the lies, half truths, deception and betrayal have Luxor not trusting anyone. Does Hunter love her or will he destroy her? This is a fast paced story that keeps you guessing, pay attention or you will be lost. I have enjoyed reading this series which left us on a bit of a cliff hanger. Which direction will Luxor take the darkness or the light?

Betrayed was amazingly awesome! I enjoyed reading the second book in The Chronicles of Luxor Everstone series.

Betrayed was hands down my favorite book in the series, and by Jacklyn Dahner!

This book had me on the edge of my seat, up at odd hours in the night, it was that good!

Without giving too many spoilers, Luxor's life had a lot of angst and drama in I was in for it!! I'm definitely dying to find out what's next for her!!

ARC received from the The Next Step PR.

DNF @ 15%.

Unfortunately, I struggled to get into this. Book one was okay, but I think it set me up to not be fully into this one. I’m reading good reviews, so give it a shot, but this just wasn’t for me. Personally, I feel these stories drag on a little too long than necessary and it’s hard to stay engaged.

But I do give 5 stars to this BEAUTIFUL cover! It's what pulled me into this series to begin with.

I thought book one was fantastic so couldn’t wait to read book two and it is every bit as awesome as the first! Fast paced and action packed we rejoin Luxor where we left off as she tries to follow her unveiled path. There’s some surprises thrown her way, some that she doesn’t handle very well and then there’s the twists and turns, deception and betrayal. An exciting storyline with some interesting and intriguing characters, some you will love and others you will not like at all!! From the start I found myself drawn back into this incredible world and simply cannot wait to read book three!

Haunting

Luxor had been so much drama only wanting to be away fron everyone. Her father is still after her. Hunter and Luxor have developed their relationship. This is a book of angst, action, anger and so many facets.

Jacklyn Daher is a new to me author and while Betrayed is more YA, it was still so easy to get lost in this world as an adult. I really have a weakness for nephilim, and will never get enough of stories having to do with them. Betrayed comes off very original as Luxor has her powers growing (a bit to uncontrolable at times) but she learns where she has come from, which would be very hard for any of us to swallow. There are a ton of twists that coincide with the action, leaving me as suspicious as Luxor was towards everyone else because everyone felt shady to me. What can I say, I'm a suspicious person. I stayed sitting in one position until every last page was read, and actually stayed there for some time after craving more deeply, so yeah, Betrayed was an amazing book in my eyes! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Unveiled had a lot of things that left me puzzled and unsatisfied, the main thing being the author not giving enough space to the supernatural world, at least according to my expectations. I found the whole book to revolve mainly around the protagonist, Luxor, surviving a new city, an infernal new high-school and then eventually some strange super-powers she did not understand. But Betrayed showed so many improvements! There is definitely a lot more going on in this book and it is evident how the author dedicated more space to explore the supernatural world that we just glimpsed in book #1. I believe that Betrayed actually met my expectations because finally, there was the perfect dose of action and occult , without however loosing the humor and tenderness that characterizes Luxor and her friends' human life. If you by any chance watch "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Spellman", you might have an idea of what I'm talking about! Luxor is sarcastic, strong yet fragile; she is certainly not a normal girl and she has strong supernatural responsabilities, yet she also struggles with everyday problems like feeling alone and wanting to find the perfect guy... but don't get me wrong! Luxor is no witch!

In the first book, I actually did not like her particulary since I hated how she refused to accept her destiny and tried endlessly to deny what she was. In book number two, though, she has finally come to terms with her surroundings and she finally shows the reader how difficult it is to cope with such a great deal at such a young age. This more human and tender approach to the protagonist certainly earned a lot of points from my part. Truth said, I liked all the characters better in this book and I discovered that I really have a bond with them, to the point that I felt familiar in their world and I can't wait to discover what happens next in their story! Friendship in this book is explored in every single way and the attention the author took in exploring the characters' different relationships certainly links the reader to them.

And what about that ending?? All my reviews all spoiler free so I won't tell anything about it but DAMN. I love authors who take brave decisions and Jacklyn Daher certainly has. Not all stories have happy endings right?

So this book was a major surprise for me! I aknowledge and praise all the improvements the author and the story have made and I just sit and wait patiently for the third chapter in this series!

Warning- This is my first book from the author therefore my review is based solely on this book only and the series as a whole.

That little tidbit out of the way, I enjoyed the premise of Betrayed. Luxor Everstone had a rude awakening as she comes to the realization that she is the daughter of the devil. If that isn't bad enough she constantly has moral conflicts on which side of the spectrum she resides as her powers are increasing daily, pushing her to the brink of good or evil.

Hunter and Luxor were quite the pair and the addition of a new mystery man keeps it fun and exciting. The depth of their emotion for each other was truly heartbreaking in certain scenes and I yearned for their happy ending (Spoiler- NOT).

The plot twists kept me on the edge of my seat and were surpassed only by the sheer brutality of certain revelations. A LOT of characters surprised me when their true nature was revealed and I liked the duality of their personalities.

While the book was engaging, I did have some peeves. Mainly the disconnect between Luxor and the secondary characters, especially those close to her. There was such a rollercoaster of emotions as betrayals come to light that it was hard to keep track of who's friend or foe. My other peeve was the way certain scenes were written. There was a lot of preamble and then the scenes abruptly ended without being fully explained. These abrupt endings made it difficult to keep track of the progression of the story and at times felt disjointed instead of a synergistic flow.

That being said, I would read further into the series to see how it plays out and believe the characters have true potential.

Recommended for those who are interested in PNR/ YA/ Fantasy.

Thank you to the author and Netgalley for providing me with an arc. All views and opinions expressed are my own.

Once again, I struggled while reading this series..

I really don’t like Luxor, and her interactions with the other characters, really confuses me most of the time. One moment she’s happy, the next there’s something happening that makes me like ‘what?’ There’s just something I don’t like and I can’t put my finger on any one thing.
On the plus side for these books, is that they’re a decent length of story. I also think that there’s quite a bit of detail, within the chapters.

I’ve seen a lot of people rate this book higher, and usually I love the fantasy in stories, so don’t let this review put you off :)

Quite aptly named, this one started off slow for me.

Luxor has her hands full trying to figure things out as she is thrown curve ball after curve ball, sorry no spoilers! She goes through so many different emotions and often seems disconnected with the characters from time to time, just like any normal teen.

A great job tackling some difficult subjects kept me turning the pages. Now I need that ending!

Great read as it was full of action, angst, fighting and secrets. Fast paced YA read. You do need to read the first book before reading this one. So many multi faceted characters. Some to love and some to hate. There is a lot going on in this book and at first it seemed overwhelming but as you read on it all falls into place.

Wow 2nd book in the series and they star off right were we left off with Luxors trying to follow her path after being unveiled. The surprises along the way she doesn't handle very well but I don't want to give to much away. The action is this book is great and of course has a lot of deceit in it as well... I think you will enjoy this and look forward to third book.

Again this cover knocked it out of the park, I love how the dress moulds into the sea. This story upped the intensity and the incorporated more paranormal aspects. New characters, new betrayals but most of all I adore how Luxor accepts her power and uses it more.

On to the next one to continue the journey!!
