The Creative Computing Institute (CCI) at University of the Arts London (UAL) is hiring for 4 permanent academic positions, with a deadline of 20 June for applications:

Come work with us at CCI

A new and rapidly growing Institute at UAL, this influx of new posts will almost double the number of CCI permanent staff. For anyone interested in joining us, it represents an opportunity to majorly shape the future of the institute, as well as computing and the arts in the UK.

We looking for folks whose work intersects in some way with creative computing, broadly defined. Teaching and research at the CCI currently includes topics of coding for the arts, hacking hardware, machine learning and AI for the arts, human-computer interaction, social platforms, race & technology, community service, games development, education & pedagogy, and digital citizenship.

At present we have very good diversity along the lines of gender, sexuality, and disability. With these posts we are especially hoping to improve the racial/ethnic diversity of the CCI, and we can offer application consultations to anyone from 'Black or other Minority Ethnic' backgrounds through the UAL Academic Futures programme – UAL’s current recruitment campaign to increase diversity among lecturers and senior lecturers across the University and to increase the proportion of Black and Minority Ethnic staff at UAL to 30% in the next three years.

Open event: 9 June at 5pm

We are holding an informal, live information event on 9 June introducing the Creative Computing Institute roles and welcoming potential applicants to find out more. We hope to make the application process more accessible and transparent - so that potential applicants can meet the CCI staff community, understand more about us and hear how the new roles will be appointed. The session will use the Slido platform, where users can ask questions anonymously.

Application consultations for BAME applicants

To remove barriers for anyone who faces or fears racial discrimination in their application, anyone from a BAME background who is interested in applying for these posts can book an application consultation through the UAL Academic Futures programme run by our experienced and passionate advocate for racial justice, Duna Sabri.

An application consultation is a discussion between you as a prospective applicant and a member of staff with substantial experience of recruitment and selection to academic posts and whose area of expertise relates that of yours. If you identify as a Black or Minority Ethnic candidate and would like to book an application consultation, please fill in our Academic Futures Consultation Expression of Interest. Requests for application consultations are open until 5pm Wednesday 16 June.
