Community & Founder Experience at Antler | Writer

Two weeks under my belt at The Org! I've received a ton of questions about my path into Community Building. Thought I would share a bit here incase it's helpful to others. Here's my story! :) I previously led a career in Sales Onboarding and Training with a large role in internal communications. To get my foot in the door with The Org, I sent a cold email to one of its VPs, Dylan and later applied for the NYC Community Manager role on Maria's team. The application led to a "get to know you" meeting and then, a conversation with Cirkeline, and later Christian. This eventually led to an offer on the team. BUT my first cold email to Dylan was passed on to Maria after the process got started and I believe it helped in getting me here. In my email: (1) I introduced myself and explained how The Org's values resonated with my own. I recognized the value of what they were building to create a more transparent workplace and expressed how I wanted to be a part of it and why. (2) I showcased my experience in bringing people together at Sprinklr, Procore Technologies, and CreatorIQ. I put pictures from events, gifs created off videos, and a link to community campaigns I've led. I wanted them to get a vibe for who I was as much as possible and enjoyed being creative rather than writing paragraphs. (3) I shared my story about Seoul Startups— how volunteering for it affirmed my strong passion about community and why I believe it's a key advantage, even outside of a company. People will always remember their experience at work. All in all, you have to shoot your shot! Ask the company if they're hiring (which The Org is hiring!!) but incase they're not, pitch what you can do to be helpful. Show them you've done your research and why you're their best person for that role. Thank you Cirkeline and Maria for taking a chance on me! Here's a photo of us in the countryside of Denmark where we dressed in the only attire that's appropriate for an 18th century castle. These last 2 weeks have been nothing short of an adventure 💙
