My neighbor down the street Brent Bergland is a standup guy. I met him at a block party this past summer here in Highland Park. He heads up Mortenson's Energy Storage business and has gone out of his way to help me get up to speed in the #gridedge sector because he believes his industry could use my help ... how do I put this - getting to the point faster. Brent is not a prospect. His company is massive and I work with companies about a 10th of the size. But at that block party, when I told him what I did for a living, he remembered it and still brings it up it to this day even when he's calling about where to send his kid to camp this summer. To prepare for a keynote I am giving in a couple of weeks, I listened for the 5th time to the Andy Stanley & Donald Miller podcast from StoryBrand in 2019. They talk about how people can't follow other people into confusion. What good reminders!
