FOUNDER - Ecosystem Intelligence Officer

"Major players in de-weeding technologies in agriculture as of 5 July 2023 (Ecosystem size roughly 1200 organizations)" There are currently, based on our AGCUMEN Ecosystem Intelligence, roughly 1200 organizations in the world providing mechanical or precision technology solutions, offering alternative ways to combat weed in a more sustainable way, by getting rid of pesticides. Doing away with pesticides is not just the right way but also increases yield significantly as several studies have shown. Based on our flow data of the past 8 years, German companies, followed by US, French, Dutch, and UK ones are dominating the space. While some offer mechanical solutions others focus on precision technology and of course robotic ones. Conventional players like Amazone or Lemken have moved into the space strategically several years ago and are looking at both mechanical and robotic solutions. Many robototics startups also link up with traditional manufacturers to combine their machinery with implements of the latter. The below overview provides 25 main players (out of 1200) showing also the convergence between mechanical and robotic offerings. Weed is either adressed mechanically (ideally ending up as biomass) or using robots that unpluck weed with actuators or apply all sorts of treatments (electricity, laser, plasma, hot water, selective pesticides, and many others) #agriculture #deweeding #precisionfarming #conventionalfarming John Deere Naïo Technologies AGROINTELLI CNH Industrial Small Robot Company FarmDroid LEMKEN RootWave (Ubiqutek Ltd) AMAZONEN-WERKE H. Thank you for sharing. “Doing away with pesticides is not just the right way but also increases yield significantly as several studies have shown.” Can you provide some context for this statement? There are cases where it may be true but I can also think of cases where it is not true within a given cropping system.

Dr Murat - How are you defining "Major players"? Is it by # of PR articles or by # of machines actually working? By revenue? By global footprint? Just curious. 🤔
