With all the heart-wrenching violence, turmoil and so many serious problems we face in the world right now, it felt therapeutic and hopeful to write this inspiring story of a new website and book centering stories of girls’ activism and resistance from across the world - as we look to creating new narratives and highlighting untapped forces to bring about change. The piece features insights and calls to action from the co-creators, Dr. Ramatu Bangura, Rosa Bransky and Jody Myrum.

Really excited to have represented FRIDA | The Young Feminist Fund in the Human Rights Funders Network (HRFN) Funding Futures Festival in beautiful Oaxaca, Mexico. Humbled to host alongside Boikanyo Modungwa, Shama Dossa and Ramatu Bangura a session on “Shifting power through our learning practices”.  Conspiring together with Purposeful, Fenomenal Funds and Children's Rights Innovation Fund (CRIF), we explored why and how we need to move beyond the usual Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) practices. My 6 takeaways:  ✔ Challenge MEL thinking, structures and tools that perpetuate a linear view of change rooted in patriarchal and Global North ideas of progress.  ✔ Deconstruct abstract concepts such as impact, goals and indicators. Language is political. ✔ Build up new and alternative ways of navigating the complexity of change.  Collective contribution to change at the center of learning.  ✔ Reclaim the power, magic and beauty of learning. ✔ Stop reproducing extractivist  & tokenized MEL practices that only create more overload and lack of agency for movements, activists and defenders.  ✔ Let’s hold difficult conversations around philanthropy.
