The club took me in.
Even though I was a cop.
The moment I handed in my badge, I knew becoming an outlaw would change my life forever.

As an ex-cop turned biker, my job is to stay loyal. To the club and my brothers. That is my sole purpose. Even though the reason I joined is no longer with us.

Losing love is hard, but life must go on.
Especially for my kids.
Even if they're just out of reach.

Now I'm a fugitive, an outlaw, a ghost.
But I've run into someone I didn't see coming.
A ray of pure sunshine.

Just when I'd given up on family, now I'm ready to stand and fight.
But perhaps the battle is not where I think it lies.
Maybe my ray of sunshine will warm my life.
Or maybe the darkness surrounding her will freeze me to my very soul.

This is the first book in the series that I have read and although it didn't negatively affect my understanding of the story it peaked my interest about the other characters in previous books. This is an MC book that focuses mainly on the characters there is some MC action but it is not as dark as some in this genre. I felt the character development of both Kevlar and Jovie was very well done and the growth of Kevlar in particular was a joy to read. This is action packed but also packs an emotional punch to the gut several times. I found this an entertaining read with interesting and engaging characters and a storyline that flips easily between the romance and the MC kept me guessing and invested to the end.

My Rating: 4.5 stars!

**ARC was generously provided by the author in exchange for my honest review.**

Ooo-wee! Kevlar’s book did not disappoint. Cop turned biker?! Yeah you know there’s going to be an interesting story there.

The first two books in the series gave little snippets here and there of Kevlar being an ex-cop and leaving it all behind for his wife, and to join the Houston Defiance MC. This story delves into detail not only with how that all came about but what’s gone down since becoming a biker.

I kid you not, not even three pages in and Kevlar’s story made me tear up. Totally unexpected. But it sucked in me in deep. Right off the bat it focused more on his personal story than the MC — which I normally would be bummed about, but I adored how different this book is to the previous two that were more on the darker side. Maybe it’s because Kevlar came from a policing background, unlike Zero and Wraith who both had a harder upbringing, who knows? But whatever it is, it’s giving Kevlar that protective, badass outer shell with an oh-so deliciously, ooey-gooey sweet as sin center personality! As much as I love Zero, I can’t deny Kevlar is a more level-headed and balanced person. 😅

Let’s do a rundown of Kevlar real quick, shall we?

Ex-cop turned Biker: ✔
Single Dad: ✔
Kindhearted: ✔
Protective Alpha: ✔
Thoughtful: ✔
Loyal as they come: ✔

I absolutely enjoyed reading the hell out of this book as a whole, but there are certain things either said or done that I didn’t completely agree. All very minor. It’s no way a deal breaker or even something that has put me off said characters involved. Believe me this book is just as riveting, just as nail-biting as its predecessors. I actually think I might love it more than Explosive. Eeep. 🙈🤫

Such a character driven storyline, and one full of growth. I truly appreciate Osborn for pacing Kevlar when it came to his feelings, to moving forward, and giving him time to sort out his emotions in regards to Em and Jovie. It made it all the more authentic. A beautifully told story of love, finding peace, and new beginnings. You instantly feel connected to Kevlar. He’s relatively open about his thoughts and apprehensions. It’s one of the reasons why he’s just a little different from the rest of the brothers in the MC. He may put up a tough front when needed but he can switch it off just as easily and simply be a man who’s heartbroken, a little lost, and who can admit that he wants a change but doesn’t know if or how he can achieve it.

From all the couples that have been paired so far in this series, Kevlar and Jovie are by far the most harmonious and dare I say, whose journey is soothing to the soul to read about. There’s just something so calming about their relationship that had me feeling so at ease whenever they were together. Jovie couldn’t have been more perfectly suited for Kevlar and his family.

Combine that with the most understanding and supportive secondary characters who are Kevlar’s in-laws and Jovie’s bestie Savanah that just assisted in making their budding relationship as effortless as possible (putting aside Kevlar’s own hang ups, of course).

Honorary mention to Kevlar’s children too. Not gonna lie, I haven’t read many books that included children I didn’t find annoying as hell. 🙉😅 His however, were adorable as fuck. They’re young, mischievous but it’s obvious they were raised with manners. Hallelujah!

Well paced. Told from dual points of view. Yeah okay, a few predictable plot points but the suspenseful atmosphere is steady throughout with plot twists that WERE surprising to see — which may or may not provide a segue to future storylines. Nevertheless, the possibilities are exciting to think about! 🤩

There’s an obvious dynamic between the families in this story— not only within the Houston Defiance MC, but with Kevlar’s own. You can see the significant difference between the two worlds Kevlar is connected to that was never intended to mesh together… that is, until all hell breaks loose and common ground is found.

*happy sigh* A completely gripping MC romance story full of depth and such heart. Not only has Osborn created such a vivid world that’s expanding with each new book, she’s included relatable, imperfect characters you can’t help but love and root for. It’s become one of my favourite second-chance romance books to date! Although part of a series, it can be read as a standalone, but I still highly recommend you read the previous books first to get the full picture of their world.

An amazing addition to the Houston Defiance MC. Already looking forward to reading the next one!

This was just an okay read for me. I found myself skimming and I just wasn't drawn in to the couple or side characters. I wasn't a huge fan of Jovie and some of the side characters. In the end, it was just another read, that sadly I won't remember much about.

I think there were too many moments that just didn't make sense or fit the characters. Moments where I felt like the author was trying to make it more than it was. Like when Jovie finds out he has kids. It just felt uncomfortable. I think that is actually this entire book for me.. So many moments that just felt uncomfortable, and unnatural.

I will definitely give this author another try, but sadly this just feel short for me.

Fugitive is the 3rd book in the Houston Defiance MC series and once again K.E. Osborn has smashed it again.

Fugitive is Kevlar & Jovie's story. Kev was a police officer before falling in love with Emma who was the daughter of an MC president. They got married, had kids and then she fell sick and passed away.

The club is going through some stuff and Kevlar needs to disappear so he heads to New Orleans where he meets Jovie & Savannah, When his troubles blow over and he realizes Jovie is running from something as well, he takes them back to Houston under the clubs protection.

As usual this series has a great balance of the MC world plus the relationship development so we connect with the characters that we are reading about. I loved this book and even shed a tiny year or two. Can't wait to read more from this author and her defiance series.

One of these days I am going to close myself off from the entire world except maybe UberEats and read every single book in this woman’s backlist because her stories are powerful! They’re not just entertaining in the moment. They stay with you and percolate in your brain until you can’t percolate anymore and begin anew. That’s actually exactly what happened with this book LOL Like literally what happened. See, I’m not just an MC Romance Fiction fan, I’m also a fan of this author. As soon as I knew this book would land on my kindle, I started at the beginning. If you know anything about this genre, then you know the story of the club starts with book one and moves forward as the books release. It is never just about the people. The club has a storyline that needs to be followed and more often than not, everyone is in everyone’s book LOL (pretty much). SO, I’ve already met Kevlar in previous books but I’m a little OCD and I wanted to make sure all the details thus far were fresh in my mind before I started his story. Hence, the starting anew :)

That brings us to today and me telling you how ridiculously happy this story made me. Kevlar’s past is tragic and very much a part of his state of mind present day. Jovie comes into the picture with her own baggage and it is not light. Their connection is almost instant but not easy to hold on to. Again, lots and lost of baggage. However, even knowing everything Kevlar and Jovie brought to the table, their story was not one of despair or deeply riddled with angst. It felt like Sunshine :) to me. It felt like hope. It had its moments of sorrow, but the sunshine always won.

In true Osborn style, the story will keep you on your toes. There are plot points that are unexpected and even the ones that were expected are exciting. She has a way of unfolding a story that keeps the reader engaged. She’s an author anyone who enjoys this genre should be reading!

Fugitive has you on the edge of your seat and captivated by the action, drama and chemistry that surrounds Kevlar and Jovie. A story of chance meetings, second chances and moving forward. As we ride again with the Houston chapter of the Defiance MC, we will be caught up in the chaos and mayhem that surrounds the brothers and their women. Kevlar will steal your heart as he finally learns to make room in his big heart for someone else. A story packed with witty banter and heartfelt moments. Not only will you experience the heat and steam between these two but the brotherhood that comes into play. Another roller coaster of excitement as we ride hard and fast with Defiance MC.

Kevlar & Jovie make a great team. You have to love Jovie with her big heart and how understanding she is with Kevlar. They have been through hell & it seems it’s following them. You have to ask yourself if they’ll ever make it through. This book will keep you turning the pages. You will definitely get some laughs & parts will pull at your heart.

This is the first book I've read in this series, so it was a little confusing for me with all the characters. Especially with the illness and the death of Kevlar's wife Emma. You have the trouble between his brother Ethan and keeping his kids from him. There's plenty of danger, setups, dirty cops and trouble around every corner. HEA.

This is my first The Houston Defiance MC Series book, and also the first one I read about MC Romance, so I didn't really know what to expect, thankfully I enjoy it a lot and I think in large part it was because, from my perspective, it's not need to have read the above books to understand the history of Kevlar & Jolvie. Plus, Fugitive has a story I loved, adorable characters, and moments that stole my heart.

To begin with, Kevlar struck me as an interesting character, well written, developed, and who grows and learns a lot throughout the book. He has been part of the Houston Defiance MC for several years, before that he was a policeman, but he had to leave the force to be with the love of his life, unfortunately Emma died suddenly and Kevlar is lost without her, his pain is so great that he has been forced to leave his children with his younger brother, however, now he wants to get them back and be the father they need, but things get complicated for him and that possibility seems very far away, and at the least expected moment Jolie appears in his life, she is a girl who runs away to save her life along with her friend Savanah, she is brave, loving and cares about the people she loves, her path joins that of Kevlar when he offers her help and she decides to accept it, from there they embark on a beautiful journey full of fun, danger and love.

This story has many things that I like, first of all, the single father's plot is beautiful, I love the love that Kevlar has for his children and how he behaves and cares about them, without a doubt he is a great father, but not only does he have beautiful scenes with them, Jovie is also very loving, understanding and read them they accept her with open arms, I love the relationship that form with little Lucas.

The plot of the motorcycle club and Jovie's family caught me from the first moment, it is very exciting to wait to know what is going to happen next, it has unexpected twists, a lot of action and a conclusion that I loved. Plus, the action sequences are well explained, reasonably long, and straight to the point, which I really appreciate.

Finally, the love story, I really liked it, I love knowing from the beginning that Kevlar has internal struggles and feels guilty at times due to his feelings for Jovie, but I think the situation is always handled in the best way. I like to read how they learn to trust each other and communicate their feelings, and I definitely loved that both are the other's salvation.

Fugitive was an unexpectedly beautiful trip, it is a story that has everything and is very much enjoyed, it also left me wanting to know the previous stories of the series with more desire to continue with the next book.

🇪🇸

I knew this book was going to be good but when you get tears in your eyes reading the prologue you know it is going to be extraordinary and it was believe me! Readers experience so many different emotions for and with the characters as the story unfolds, it’s a definite five star read.

Kevlar, or Liam Rudd, was once a policeman who gave that career up to be with the woman he loved. He joined the Houston Defiance MC and their life began together in harmony. They had it all, well Kevlar didn’t have his own family’s support but his extended MC family made up for that. Everything was fine until it wasn’t!

I liked Kevlar in the first two books and getting to know him on a deeper level in this book showed I as correct, he’s a keeper. He truly is a great character with a strong protective attitude towards his family, both biological and nonbiological. He had had it so tough, a weaker person might have found a vice easier to use as a crutch. Jovie is another wonderful character who is strong and determined even when life has let her down. She is a caring friend and protects those around her to the best of her ability. Savannah is someone I look forward to reading more about too.

This book is jam packed with drama and action that often has you ready to bite your nails with anxiety. The excitement is top notch and continues right up until the last word, what an ending! I loved how unpredictable so many moments were in the story, while some I predicted or thought they were a possibility, most were surprises and I loved the twists and turns.

I look forward to reading about Neon and his new woman, well hopefully they are the next book as it sounds so exciting.

Awesome MC Read!!

Now here’s a book that grabs you in the first few pages already having you reaching for tissues and ripping your heart out. Fugitive is so well written that you feel everything that Kevlar and Jovie go through. It has you falling in love with Kevlar’s kids as much as Kevlar is. I loved this storyline along with the rest of the happenings.

As we know from the previous Houston Defiance MC book, Addictive, Kevlar is in hiding with the Baron working to take him and his cop brother, Ethan down. Kevlar makes his way to NOLA to revisit the brothers of the Defiance Brothers MC while in hiding. Good thing he was hiding in plain sight because that’s where he meets the beautiful Jovie along with her friend Savannah. While Savannah hooks up with rock star Rush, Kevlar and Jovie begin to hit it off…the only thing is that Kevlar has a past love he is still dealing with and Jovie is hiding from people who want to destroy her as well.

I loved this book because it had everything any MC lover would want. The Houston Defiance MC was hard core and that meant that they also had hardcore enemies. The brothers, themselves, were a true family and you felt it in the writing. And let’s say that the chemistry between Kevlar and Jovie was “fanning” worthy. A war was coming to the Defiance MC’s door and it was unclear at that time if the MC would be able to protect the ones they loved with three big club enemies coming at them all at one time.

I highly recommend this book along with the rest of the Houston Defiance MC series. Also if you love MC romance you definitely want to check out the other MC books KE Osborn writes.

"She's the gale-force winds, and I'm the rain. Separately, it's not enough to wreak havoc but put them together, and it creates a blizzard."

2 Fugitives on the Run!! What a ride!!

Kevlar the ex-cop now biker needs to disappear so has headed to New Orleans. Jovie is on the run from her dangerous family and has also landed in New Orleans. They meet by chance or was it fate? For Kevlar, Jovie is instantly like a breathe of fresh air, a ray of sunshine and sparks instantly fly between them. However, can Kevlar love again after loss of his wife? Or will the darkness following Jovie cease any chance these two have at a HEA?
Riddled with chemistry, suspense, action, steam, heartbreak, and twists and turns Jovie and Kevlar's story pulled at my heart strings, had my Kindle heating up and had me smiling, laughing, reaching for the tissues, gasping in shock and surprise, and on the edge of my seat with my heart in my throat pounding profusely.

Fugitive was another wild ride for the Houston Defiance MC and once again I simply devoured this book!! High on the emotion and High on the action and suspense.
5 stars, 2 thumbs up! I can't wait for more!!!

K E Osborn is the Queen of emotional heart wrenching MC romances You have only had to read the first two in The Houston Defiance MC series to know that, so I thought I was prepared for Fugitive but I was wrong……From the prologue I was hooked - big bad biker Kevlar had my heart in the palm of his hand and he didn’t let go even after I turned the last page! He is not only worthy of the title Swoon Worthy Biker and if you love a biker dad then you will double swoon over Kevlar.

We meet Kevlar in the previous book, ex policeman he gave it all many years before and joined the MC much to the distress of his family but now he is being framed by the Baron the man that Defiance have been in a war with throughout the series now a Fugitive he has had to leave the club until it is safe to return. Kevlar goes to the one place he has an emotional connection to New Orleans. There he meets the not only beautiful but strong Jovie and a connection is formed instantly. But Jovie and her friend Savannah are on the run from Jovies’ family a quick stop in New Orleans was all it was meant to be. Kevlar and Jovie should have been like to ships passing in the night each dealing with problems that they don’t need to place on the other. But whoever said that live and love was easy and it sure isn’t going to be for these two but hell they story is an Epic one!

This is the 3rd book in this awesome series and is a perfect addition. Kevlar is an ex-cop who joined an MC, and when the club is going through some tough times Kev needs to disappear and goes to New Orleans, which is where he meets Jovie and her best friend Savannah. Jovie is also running from her past, but can this protective biker make her past disappear? This is a beautifully written tale which is dark and intense and has engaging characters, a riveting plot, and is an emotional roller coaster throughout, as well as having heartbreak, twists, and love. I look forward to reading more from this gifted author whose work I highly recommend for all MC lovers.

The Houston Defiance MC series has gotten serious with book three Fugitive.  With lots of action and the memory of lost love this is a second chance romance for one tough biker.  Osborn knows how to write MC stories that will keep you entertained and turning the pages. (How do you know so much Osborn, Hmmmmm?) Good men that do bad things are so alluring, who doesn’t want the bad boy?  Book four Impulsive is bound to be as explosive as the 5-star read Fugitive.

Kevlar is on the run.  Set up by the Baron he must leave the safety of the club and his kids till they can get ahead of the legal situation.  Going to the one place that has given him sanctuary in the past Kevlar goes to NOLA and the ghost of his lost love haunt him even more.  On the run and alone is it possible for this Fugitive to find peace and maybe even love?

I want to start by saying that this book can be read as a standalone, but some events leading up to Kevlar’s story are best understood if you’ve read the first 2 books in this amazing series. Ms.Osborn has given us a very well written, exciting storyline that will have you smiling, gripping the edges of your book and needing to see what’s going to happen next.

Kevlar has been a shell of his former self since his wife, Emma, died. He now lives for his two kids and his MC brothers. When he is framed for something he hasn’t done. For safety sake he heads to New Orleans. This is where he meets Jovie. She too is on the run from her family. The problems are huge yet the love connection is strong. Can these two find a way to stay alive long enough to make things right in their world?

Outstanding read that I highly recommend. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars.

He was framed for a crime he didn’t commit, so he decided to go on the run, but had to leave everything that he held dear behind. It tore his heart out.
She was running for her life from her family. She’s scared to death that they will find her and kill her.
They met by accident in New Orleans and immediately felt the pull of desire and attraction. He decided to offer his and the clubs protection to her and brings he home to the club, when he is told he is cleared of the allegation of the crime.
The Houston Defiance is in for the fight of their lives, and are more then able to and are ready for it. They take out old enemies and new, and prove that they are at the top of the food chain in Houston.

Kevlar finds himself hiding to protect himself and his family as the Baron comes after him. Heading to New Orleans is bittersweet but he crosses paths with a beautifully compassionate woman, Jovie. Jovie is running from her family and doesn’t know if she will ever be safe from them. Meeting Kevlar is a comfort to her and when he promises to protect her, well, this is something she’s never had. But can she trust the Houston Deviance? Will they really be able to help her? As Jovie is threatened by her family, Kevlar is still dealing with threats from the Baron. Add in the struggle to have his kids with him as his brother, Ethan, believes staying with him is better. There are so many emotional mine fields in this story for both Kevlar and Jovie. The amazing thing is how these two found each other in a moment and know how to be the rock the other needs in time of crisis. The real question, will everyone come out unscathed at the end of this crazy road they are on? Dive in to find out with another heart-pounding, gut-wrenching ride with the Houston Defiance MC. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

This is Book 3 in The Houston Defiance Series, and is the story of widowed, ex-cop Kevlar and Jovi. I have read every single Defiance Novel so far but this one hit me in the feels, and isn't as dark as the others. All your favourite characters feature and I love the way they all interact and how their stories are all intertwined. If you like MC books I highly recommend you pick this series up, you can just read this series BUT if you love the characters as much as I do, read The Chicago Defiance series first - you will not be disappointed.

Fugitive by K.E. Osborn
“Unexpected love, 5 stars”

Kevlar took off to New Orleans when he needed to leave town. There’s something about the town that makes him feel at home and reminds him of his late wife. What he didn’t expect was to make a new friend and fall for a woman. When it’s time to go back home to his club and his kids he takes her with. Only all isn’t as it seems. Will he be able to keep the first woman to catch his attention safe?
Jovie is running from her family. When you know people are bad for you, you do what you have to do. When she runs into Kevlar, there is no denying the attraction. Especially when a priestess points it out. She’s running from a life of crime, and Kevlar’s life isn’t exactly on the up and up. Will she give him a chance to prove that not all bikers are bad?

I keep coming back to just one word to describe this book: solid. It's really just a solid read with a little bit of everything that you would expect in an MC book. Kevlar's a fugitive on the run. However, that's not the least of his problems. He's a former cop in an MC. His brother, who's a cop, is raising his kids, and he hasn't moved on from his wife's passing three years ago. Add it all up, and it's complete chaos set in between Houston Defiance's usual antics. Although there's always drama at the clubhouse, this is really the story of one man breaking through his grief to realize that maybe there's life after death.

Omg - what a great series this is. I have loved reading Kevlar’s story and how the author still brings the other club members into this book.
This is a series I will be re-reading once the whole series is complete!

Fugitive is book three in the Houston Defiance series and is Kevlar and Jovie's book. If you read Wraith's book you know exactly what events set Kevlar's story into action. This time he's not the only one on the run. Jovie and her friend Savannah are on the run and meeting Kevlar make be the best thing that ever happened to them. This book was action packed, suspenseful and the loved every minute of it. If you haven't read this series yet, I highly recommend that you do.

I love Kevlar’s story. Going from the right side of the law to the grey side of the law finding and losing love... His second chance will never happen if he can’t let the past go.

4*
Kevlar hasn't been himself since his wife Emma died leaving him their 2 children. Their love was instant she was part of the mc family he was in the police force which he left to join the mc.
Jovie is having a rare night with her bestie Savannah running from her twisted family. Little do they both realise the chemistry and connection could be the way to save each other and find what they didn't realise they both needed.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and looking forward to reading more in the series

We all have a past that we're running from. Some of us, in our minds. But there are those who literally run to stay alive. Good thing this time, she ran right into her future. The story of Jovie and Kevlar is so fantastic. I just couldn't put it down. Houston Defiance is under fierce pressure with the coming war against the Baron and his cohorts.  It is always such a pleasure to read this author. Thank you for a great read.

I was hooked…. Since I read the first book in this series and it just got better.

We met Kevlar in the previous books. Kevlar left his job as a police officer when he met Emma who was the daughter of an MC President. And he had to choose between being a cop and being part of the MC and he chose Emma. They got married, had kids and life was great, but then Emma got sick and she died.

Now years later his still not over his wife. But life in the club is tough, especially with the Baron (enemy from previous books) trying to frame him for something he didn’t do. So his prez sends him to New Orleans to get away from Houston. That’s where he meets Jovie and her friend Savannah while he is at a bar one night. He finds himself attracted to her, but still feels like his cheating on his wife. But Jovie also comes with her own problems. Even with his own problems, he can’t seem to help to want to protect her and keep her safe from what she is running from.

Some parts of this my heart just broke for Kevlar, when he lost his wife and then his issues with his brothers and his kids. But I also felt happy that he met Jovie and that he was trying to move on with his life. This book had just what you need in an MC Romance. Action, enemies, never knowing whats going to happen next, and the chemistry between Jovie and Kevlar was HOT. I love a series where the club is hard core but they are also total softies when it comes to protecting the people they love, they will move heaven and earth to keep them safe. I am so excited to see what happens next, I cant wait for the next book 😊.

If you a MC lover then read this series 😊 ♥

Fugitive is book 3 of the Houston Defiance MC series. The story focuses on Kevlar and Jovie A.K.A Sunshine. This one really tugged at my heart strings.

Kevlar is a unique member of the Houston Defiance MC, considering he's an ex-cop. I believe him to be more in touch with his emotional side compared to his brothers, to the point where he let's it dominate his decision making and often times allows it to hold him and his happiness back.

Jovie is a sweet, fun, caring, intelligent woman who's on the run from her past and the people who should be protecting her. She only has her best friend and she's determined to get free from the demons chasing her.

Their story is entertaining, unpredictable, full of emotionally charged moments, and a dash of action. We also get more nuggets of Zero with Cherry and Wraith with Prinie, which I loved! Osborn also leaves some bread crumbs which will have you pondering what is going on that we have yet to learn and leaves you wondering what we should expect. I look forward to book 4 and finding out what Osborn has up her sleeve!
