Sir Edward Kelhoyr (1824-1919) was an English physiologist, ethnographer and geneticist. The recording was found in April 2019 in an abandoned factory in Edinburgh by Professor William Oppershaltz. Great Is Our Sin is part of a series of 12 recordings and is the first to be released publicly from the archives after a careful restoration of the wax support, originally used for phonographic engraving.
