The Story Pirates

Story Pirates is a media company I co-founded in 2004 to celebrate the words and ideas of kids. It all started in a Harlem school auditorium when a group of friends put on an absurdist sketch comedy show based on stories written by kids. Since then, we've launched a hit radio show, the #1 podcast for kids and families, a live tour which performs from coast to coast, and a critically acclaimed middle-grade book series from Random House. Our first book, “Stuck in the Stone Age,” debuted in the Spring of 2018, and our second book, “Digging up Danger,” was released January, 2019. Our debut album, “Nothing Is Impossible,” won the Family Choice Award and the National Parenting Product Award, and our second album, "Backstroke Raptor" was released June 2019.

The Story Pirates are proud to be a leading advocate for arts education. Through Story Pirates Changemakers, our partner non-profit, the Pirates provide life-changing literacy and creative writing programs in New York and Los Angeles to thousands of kids in Title I schools and homeless shelters.
