At Lightbulb Learning Center, we offer Private Tutoring and Contract Services focused on Literacy Development and Remediation for students in grades K-8. Our mission is to deliver exceptional, personalized literacy instruction to developing, struggling, and reluctant readers, aiming to enhance their academic success both inside and outside the classroom.


Utilizing a multi-sensory, structured literacy approach, Lightbulb Literacy aims to strengthen and empower students, fostering confident lifelong readers. We specialize in supporting neurodiverse learners and students facing academic challenges due to language-based learning disabilities. Our commitment is demonstrated through the implementation of a systematic, explicit, and evidence-based multi-sensory approach, providing ample opportunities for students to achieve success.

Kathleen Wainwright, a seasoned educator with over 23 years of teaching experience, holds a distinguished profile as a National Board Certified Teacher with a specialization in literacy. In addition to this, she is a Certified Reading Specialist, Early Literacy Intervention Specialist, Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner, and Orton Gillingham-trained professional.

Throughout her dynamic career, Kathleen has taught students ranging from Kindergarten to 6th grade, focusing extensively on reading remediation. Her expertise lies in guiding developing, struggling, and reluctant readers toward becoming confident and proficient readers. Known for her adeptness in simplifying skills and strategies, Kathleen creates an enjoyable learning process for her students.

Employing a multi-sensory, structured literacy approach, Kathleen's framework is designed to cater to struggling readers, although it proves effective for any student in the developmental stages of their reading skills.

Beyond the classroom, Kathleen serves as an Adjunct Professor at Temple University, her alma mater, where she imparts her knowledge by teaching developmental reading skills to pre-service teachers. Her commitment to education is evident in both her classroom instruction and her role in preparing the next generation of educators at the university level.
