Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Brasilia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Clerk in the Regional Security Office (RSO).


The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week).

Duties

The administrative assistant supports three Foreign Service National Investigators, the Ambassador’s bodyguards and other Regional Security Office (RSO) Local Employee (LE) Staff as directed. Coordinates the Ambassador’s bodyguards travel arrangements, RSO LE travel arrangements and FSNI staff travel arrangements. Performs all administrative duties in support of the Foreign Service National Investigators (FSNI), especially in preparing and finalizing all documentation for background investigations and revalidations. Updates and maintains database entries, provides translation services, and performs administrative and logistical support for Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA) and International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) courses.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  Work experience in office support operations, administrative or secretarial duties is required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of office administrative procedures, including funding and arrangements for logistical support for trainings. Must understand the structure of Brazilian Law Enforcement and their support of protective operations. Must be able to understand the local and U.S. bureaucratic requirements. Working knowledge in translation from Portuguese to English and vice-versa.

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary (high school) required.

  • Level III - Good Working Knowledge (speaking/reading/writing) English is required.

  • Level III - Good Working Knowledge (speaking/reading/writing) Portuguese is required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  (This may be tested)


Ability to work with MS programs, to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong interpersonal skills as well as good customer service skills are essential. Ability to work without close supervision. Ability to deal with a wide range and level of contacts from police officers to ministers with tact and courtesy. Must be organized, adaptable and able to respond to varied tasks and urgent requests. Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills and be able to readily adapt to an environment of consistently changing situations. Ability to pay attention to details. Ability to identify and safeguard confidential matters contained in database and records and/or discussed by others during the performance of duties. Must have held a valid local driver’s license category B for at least five years. Position is an incidental driver. Ability to translate documents from English to Portuguese and vice versa.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Brasilia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.


For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.


The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
