Look, y’all. There’s been a lot of cool music put out lately. Some hip-hop. Rock. Jazz. It’s been a great time to be a music enjoyer. You can read all about them, and more, here. But sometimes… sometimes you just need some hair-flinging, shit-damning, sweat-evaporating, ass-blasting, hell-pissing, hangnail-yanking, car-throwing, knee-skinning, credit-score-tanking, planet-busting, dick-kicking, heck-fricking, metal-ass METAL.

Enter Israeli thrashed-up band Sinnery, with all the force and speed of a charging rhino. Here to set the entire realm ablaze, they’re dropping their next album, Black Bile, on Exitus Stratagem Records on September 16, but we get some tasty pre-release shrapnel in the mouth with today’s premiere. Please, strap on a helmet before hitting play on their newest single, “The Burning”.

You just gotta love a band that knows exactly what the hell they wanna be. Sinnery bow to no one, instead turning heel to scissor kick you in the temple with battering ram riffs, suplexing drums, and neck-twisting vocals. You know the opening of Back to the Future where Marty McFly plays a single guitar chord on Doc Brown’s hyper amplifier and goes flying across the room from the resulting sound? “The Burning” provides the same effect regardless of the size of your chosen sound output device – you will be ragdolled and tossed around like a frisbee in a college quad by the quartet’s supreme rippage.

For some lyrical context, I’ll leave you to read them on your own in the video’s description (though please note there’s a casual, fantastical reference to rape), but offer some words from the band:

‘Lyrically the song’s full name was “The Burning of Mt. Sinai” and so it’s easy to know this song is an anti-religious song. Coming from Israel, religion is a big part of the atmosphere where we grew up, and we are not very fond of those establishments that are more about power and money than the lessons in those books they sell.’

This is something I can get behind, especially as stateside our government is seeing to it more and more that they enact harmful, oppressive policies day in and day out with a religious justification, and they do it because they know they can get away with it. Separation of church and state is a farce when the state is run by the church and its zealots. Well, fuck that. Keep spray painting pro-abortion messages on places that are anti-abortion and anti-bodily autonomy – for legal reasons, that’s a joke. Ha ha.

Anyway, “The Burning” is a caustic and fierce explosion of fists in the jaw of religious power, a defiant sandblast of sound and fury that fans of Havok, Testament, and The Crown will surely like. It’ll catapult you into the damn sun and melt your bones. It’ll spike you into the ground so hard, you liquefy. It’ll splinter your very being up like a tree into a wood chipper.

What I’m trying to say is… it’s good.

If you agree that you can’t spell incinerate without Sinnery, you should probably follow them on Facebook and Instagram. Keep an eye out for more on Black Bile before it releases on September 16 via Exitus Stratagem Records!
