Continuing our conversation on change, I am sharing this video by Dr. Maya Shankar, a cognitive scientist. I was intrigued by the following statement: “We greatly underestimate how much will change in the future, even though we fully acknowledge we’ve changed considerably in the past. Our psychology continually tricks us into believing that who we are right now in this very moment is the person that’s here to stay.” How does that resonate with you? And what are the possible consequences of unforeseen change (bound to happen)? “How might this change, change what you’re capable of?” If you wish to delve further into this concept, Dan Gilbert’s TedTalk and research on “The end of history illusion” are equally intriguing!
