Here's a post with book recommendations from over a dozen fairly successful indie hackers.

If you want their summaries and reviews you have to go to that post, but here's a simple list of the books if that's all you're after:

    • The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
    • Traction, by Justin Mares and Gabriel Weinberg
    • Hooked by Nir Eyal
    • The E-Myth Revisited by Michael E. Gerber
    • How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
    • The War of Art by Steven Pressfield
    • Creativity, Inc. by Ed Catmull
    • Antifragile by Nassim Taleb
    • Scaling Up by Verne Harnish
    • Ernest Hemingway On Writing by Larry W. Phillips
    • Give and Take by Adam Grant
    • Four Steps to the Epiphany by Steve Blank
    • Reboot by Jerry Colonna
    • Badass (and "Creating Passionate Users") by Kathy Sierra
    • Authority by Nathan Barry
    • Just Listen by Mark Goulston
    • 4-Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferriss
    • Growth Hacker Marketing by Ryan Holiday
    • How to Get Rich by Felix Dennis

I would personally add the following books to this list (in no particular order):

    • This is Marketing by Seth Godin
    • Little Bets by Peter Sims
    • Deep Work by Cal Newport
    • How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big by Scott Adams
    • Indistractible by Nir Eyal
    • Made to Stick by Chip Heath
    • The Cold Start Problem by Andrew Chen
    • Super Thinking by Gabriel Weinberg
    • So Good They Can't Ignore You by Cal Newport
    • Work the System by Sam Carpenter
    • Founders At Work by Jessica Livingston

      So many great books indeed

That’s an extensive list with some great books!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Channing 🙌

    I'd recommend two (sorry):

    • Arvid Kahl's "The Embedded Entrepreneur"
    • Sahil Lavingia's "The Minimalist Entrepreneur"

Both are close (great minds think alike, right? :p), and share ideas that I think are incredibly useful to go in the right direction.

Added both to my reading list! Read some reviews (and following both on Twitter, of course), seems like these are great suggestions!

      Thanks a lot Sebastien!

The minimalist entrepreneur by Sahil has become one of my favorites

Thanks Joe, added to my reading list!

It’s being recommended multiple times, so must be a good one indeed! 🙌

Rand Fishkin's Lost and Founder: A Painfully Honest Field Guide to the Startup World is a pretty good introduction for things to look out for regarding funding.

But if you're already on IH it might be a bit entry-level for you.

I'll let you in on my secret: I know absolutely nothing about anything! 😂

Thanks for the suggestion, Taylor! Added it to my reading list! 🙏

Many of us are good with product building and lack marketing skills. Contagious by Jonah Berger helped me so much even though I still need to put his insights to practice.

  6. 3

Oversubscribed by Daniel Priestley. It teaches the fundaments of building a business where people line up to do business with you.

      Pretty good one indeed.

The best book I've read in the last year is "Lean Customer Development" by Cindy Alvarez.

In my opinion every IH should read this book. This book tells how to build a product based on customer feedback.

    • Validate or invalidate your hypothesis by talking to the right people
    • Learn how to conduct successful customer interviews play-by-play
    • Detect a customer’s behaviors, pain points, and constraints
    • Turn interview insights into Minimum Viable Products to validate what customers will use and buy
    • Adapt customer development strategies for large companies, conservative industries, and existing products

      Great suggestion piotrh!

Based on your great summary I would say the same! Added to my reading list. Thanks a lot! 🙏

I highly recommend reading REWORK from basecamp founders
I followed a lot from that book while building Nolly.io

Thanks a lot faouzi, ordered it right away!

  9. 2

    Absolutely got to be...

"The Minimalist Entrepreneur" by Sahil Lavingia

  10. 2

Here's a few books that have influenced my Indie Hacker journey!

    • 4 hour workweek by Tim Ferriss
    • Zero to sold by Arvid Kahl
    • Built to sell by John Warrillow
  11. 2

Traction, by Justin Mares and Gabriel Weinberg was really great.

  12. 2

Zero to Sold by @arvidkahl is amazing.

  13. 2

Marketing Management - Kotler, Keller 😉

    1. 1

Though cookie to crumble this one!

I remember Kotler models from my study, very informative! Added to my reading list, thanks uvatansever!
