My virtual hide tanning course is open for 2024!!!
Get in and get started watching the videos and downloading the content for the 6 different modules that will walk you through how to Source, Preserve, Flesh, Tan, and Smoke a sheep/deer/goat hide using fats such as brains, tallow, and/or egg yolks. (Cow/buffalo/elk hides are not recommended for this course because they require additional steps and are much more labor intensive.) If you would like to purchase a salted, raw sheepskin from the Taste of the Wind flock, I will be shipping those out on November 6th. You will have first-choice as a Sheepskin Course Student, and will be able to access the hide order page through the Patreon portal once you begin your subscription. You are welcome to use your own hide for this course as well!
This course is self-paced, so you will have immediate access to all modules.
I will be available to answer any questions you may have via email, call, or text as you work your way through the process of tanning your sheepskin. If you are local to Laramie, Wyoming I am happy to help you troubleshoot in person as well.
This process takes about a week to complete, if you work on it a little bit every day, for several consecutive days. The course talks about how to safely start and stop the process without damaging your hide if life takes over and you need to pause for longer than 24 hours.
You will also be able to access this course with any other Taste of the Wind Patreon Tier. But, if you are on a shoestring and you still want to take the hide tanning course (you have to become a patreon member to access the course) you can select this Hide Tanning Course Only Tier. You will not be able to access any of my other Patreon content, except for the Hide-Tanning Course Materials.
For maximum $ saving efficiency, purchase the course and download all the materials/print them out and watch the videos within 1 month, and then unsubscribe before your subscription renews (1 month after you sign up). This way the course will only cost $30. If you choose to remain subscribed, you will be charged another $30/month for the number of months you remain a subscriber.
