Girls Educational & Mentoring Services (GEMS) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to empower girls and young women, ages 12–24, who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking to exit the commercial sex industry and develop to their full potential. GEMS' is the only nonprofit organization in New York State to provide specialized services to young women and girls who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation with counseling, crisis housing, life skills training, job training and health care with consistent support and viable opportunities for positive change.

Part-Time Everyday Living Mentor

Position Summary: The Part-Time Everyday Living Mentor is responsible for the operations of the home and creating a family-like atmosphere that supports the development and trauma needs of each resident. Everyday Living Mentors perform their duties relatively free from direct supervision and need to behave in a professional manner at all times. This position is focused primarily upon serving the youth of the program through advancing the mission of the organization. While working within a home team schedule, staff will be required to be flexible within the seven day a week needs of the GEMS TIL residents of the 24-hour therapeutic residential facility and be on call every few weeks based on the crisis schedule.

Position Summary: The Support Services Coordinator is responsible for working directly with runaway and homeless youth, specializing in sexually exploited and trafficked young women, ages 16-24. The Support Services Coordinator is responsible for providing counseling, comprehensive case management and advocacy services. They serve not only as case managers, but as advocate, ally, counselor, and a support system for young women in crisis. Grants Writer (Part-Time or Full-Time)

Position Summary: The Grants Writer is responsible for the full project management of GEMS’ granting efforts. This includes managing and expanding the prospect list and grants pipeline so that GEMS can meet the needs of existing funders and secure new funding for the future. Flexible work hours 25-30 hours a week. The option of full-time is also available.

Development and Communications Director

Position Summary: The Development Director is responsible for the development and implementation of all initiatives to increase financial support and organizational awareness. The Development Director oversees all aspects of the organization’s fundraising plans and ensures the effective design, development and implementation of all external communication, including GEMS social media platform, media and public relations initiatives. The right candidate can develop and execute a well thought out development plan, bring creative and innovative ideas to fundraising, while juggling multiple deadlines in a fast-paced and growing organization. Training Manager

Position Summary: The Training Manager will manage training activities both internally and externally. In collaboration with the Training Director, the Training Manager will be responsible for assessing the training needs of the organization in order to support and expand the training department, training programs, and training best practices to attend to issues and needs supported by GEMS. Director of Operations

Position Summary: GEMS is seeking a dynamic and talented individual to step into the newly created Director of Operations position at the agency. The Director of Operations' primary duties will be to manage and support daily operations and administration, and to act as a strategic thought partner with the CEO during a time of significant organizational growth and development. Responsible for collaborating with the CEO to actively promote the mission of the organization externally and to maximize the potential impact of key partnerships and opportunities, the Director of Operations will focus on office management, human resources, technology, performance management and program site needs. With guidance from the CEO, the Director of Operations will work collaboratively with the senior management team, which includes a CEO and a CFO to develop and implement effective systems in fundraising, finance and operations, program, and external relations.
