The Five Families #5

Absolute Silence

Rate this book
The Lion’s Den club was better than I ever imagined and my worst nightmares, all combined.

I thought I was going to explore my darkest fantasies.
Gain a better understanding of myself and discover what I’d been missing in life.

Instead, I made a deal with the devil.

I had hoped I wouldn’t see anyone I knew at the club.
Coming face-to-face with Filip De Luca was a worst-case scenario.

Filip was effortless power seething beneath a playboy exterior.
A host of sharp edges disguised behind a cavalier grin.
Inescapably alluring and devastatingly dangerous.

He promised he wouldn’t tell my father about seeing me at the club.
I had his blessing to dip my toes into the dark waters of deviancy.

The catch?
Filip would guide me on this journey.
He would control every aspect of my exploration.
Set every boundary and command my obedience to his rules.

I thought I could live with his terms.
Gain the experience I wanted from a partner I could trust.

What a naïve fool I’d been to think our bargain could ever be so simple.

**Absolute Silence is the fifth book in The Five Families Series but can be read as a standalone novel. This book is a mafia romance containing adult themes and may not be suitable for sensitive readers.

Another great addition to this wonderful series. This time, it’s the bumpy romance between Filip–Matteo’s little brother, and the man charged with taking care of Giada when she was targetted by the cartel–and Camilla–Giada’s sister.

You’d think they would be better acquainted with such family ties, but they barely know each other when they meet at the most unexpected place: a sex club. And they certainly don’t know what they hide from everyone. Filip is a regular there, since that’s where he satisfies his need for control–as we’ve seen before, he’s a very intense character. Camilla is looking for thrills, because the perfect Genovese girl has an unexplored dark side. Sparks fly, desire arises, and it’s the beginning of a powerful relationship. I loved how they completed each other, and accepted each other’s darker side as it was–not seeking to ‘cure’ the other.

Though there’s some trouble in the city, probably because of the cartel, the mafia war takes a back seat. It is less a mafia romance, and more a dark romance with a side of BDSM. There’s still a suspense element, but I won’t spoil it.

What still has a prominent place in this book is family, like in the rest of the series. We get to see more of the Genoveses and De Lucas dynamics–their inner conflicts, the strong attachments, the healing relationships. These families has gone through so much since the beginning of the series, it’s interesting to see how they evolved.

Finally, this one might be the sexiest book of the series so far. The extreme practices described here, if mild by other standards, are still a far cry from anything the author has written. It shows the very intense relationship between Camilla and Filip, and I loved it.

Quickie

- Series: The five families #5 (but they can be read as standalone)
- Hashtags: #mafia romance #BDSM #no strings attached
- Triggers: BDSM, violence, death, mutilation (of a secondary character, nothing graphic), past abuse
- Main couple: Camilla Genovese & Filip De Luca
- Hotness: 5/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + the author deals with characters previously seen in the series in the most perfect manner
- – I’m getting tired of the petty female rival who does crazy shit expecting to win back the man

This series keeps delivering in unexpected ways! Camilla and Filip meet up in a completely unexpected place, but is it Filip’s misguided need to protect or something that he refuses to acknowledge that drives him to push her so? And why does he keep changing their rules of engagement?

I adored both of them and wasn’t anticipating Camilla’s past to be what it was. It shaped her, sure, but it didn’t break her or even seriously dent her. Filip just needs to grasp that if he wants any sort of future with her. Add in Dante and a truly nasty redhead and the mystery does its job. I was sucked in and wondered who Dante would end up being, why he was so persistent, and I still managed to be surprised when it all came into the open.

This author has managed to add subtle and not so subtle changes to each story to keep them fresh and different, and this one was no exception. Now I have to wonder what’s going on with Val and when we’re going to find out!

„I live and breathe for you.”

Sinfully sexy. Deliciously suspenseful. Filled with darkness, passion and unexpected twists and turns! I loved everything about this story- from the surprising beginning, the danger and thrill throughout the storyline, until the hea that was uncertain at some point. Filip and Camilla’s story is a seductive and emotional tale that’s captivating and hard to put down! This mafia romance is fast-paced, filled to the brim with sensuality and shocking revelations, and it’s so well-written that I devoured it in one sitting. It’s the hottest book from Jill Ramsower to date!

What starts as a platonic relationship turns into something more and before they both know they are far bigger enemies to encounter. With the whole family at their side, that might not be that tough. 🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧

OVERALL RATING: 3.5 STARS
STORY: 4 STARS
NARRATION: 3 STARS

🎧PERFORMANCE REVIEW🎧

✔️ Troy Duran made for an excellent Filip. He has a deep, sometimes gravely voice that made it easy for me to picture him as the Dominant. His performance made a believer out of me. He also did well with the voices of secondary characters and when he narrated his female counterpart.

✔️ Natalie Eaton also did an excellent job performing Camilla, but that’s about the extent of it for her. Her voice is so different from Troy’s that sometimes I found myself not even realizing she was performing as Filip! She also rushed her performance, in my opinion. She didn’t take her time with the character, and she came off as rushed for most of the story. The difference in the cadence of her voice compared to Troy when she narrated Filip took me out of the moment in the story and it just ruined the listening experience for me. And honestly, that’s not really on her as a narrator, but it is on whomever made the choice to pair them together. I’ve listened to audio’s before by Natalie and she’s never had this issue. Troy’s voice was just too deep for her to even come close to mirroring.

📚STORY REVIEW📚

It was a struggle for me to get into the story at first because of the above-mentioned narration difficulties, but once I got used to it, I was able to put it all aside and concentrate better on the storyline. It’s a pretty good story with tasteful BDSM scenes that even though sometimes were above what I would prefer for myself, I could see the merit of them and appreciate them for this story and for Camilla. I enjoyed their natural progression from just sexual to more. It was developed well and realistically. I liked that there was also an outside mystery to the story so it wasn’t all The Lion’s Den all the time, if you get my drift lol It was a good balance of story sex basically LOL

This was my first read by this author and I think I might just go back at the beginning of at least this series for now and see how it goes.

ABSOLUTE SILENCE is an insanely seductive and dark story about Filip DeLuca and Camilla Genovese. One night Camilla joins an “adult” club, the Lion’s Den hoping to learn more about herself without worrying about her people knowing. The first person she runs into is one known by her family. Filip.

This unleashes in Filip something he fights himself to resist. He tries to control, possess, protect and even stalk Camilla not wanting another man to touch her - that’s my favorite kind of dark romance guy. It is as if this is the only person who can make him lose the careful control he has of himself.

Of course, Camilla has to be headstrong, uncooperative, independent and sparks fly whenever she and Filip are together. She goes places that tease him, sees people that infuriate him - but she’s sure she is not doing anything to purposely upset him.

All the while, Dante, the club owner, has his eye on Camilla. She thinks he’s just being friendly. Filip keeps warning him to stay away from her. Dante is a character that is so well written you will fall under his spell - almost - like Camilla.

This was a really good book that I was captivated by from the first page. It is the only one I have read from the series so I can say with confidence it works fine as a standalone. Past characters were mentioned seamlessly. I recommend you read it.

I received an advance copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.

Camilla had seared herself into my being, branded herself in my thoughts, and planted roots deep inside my soul.

I was not expecting this story from that book with those feelings. Man o’ man was that some hot and delicious reading. My girl getting dirtier and dirtier in her writing and momma likey.

While we are not done with the cartel, and things only seem to be getting worse where the families are concerned, other players come out and play an even bigger role in this story. So much goes down and it’s intense. And it’s hot. So very hot.

I wasn’t sure how I would like this book with how it begins, because it took me a little out of my comfort zone. But Ramsower does an impeccable job keeping it sultry, yet classy. And in the end, the story was fantastic and I absolutely loved it.

Getting a little sad this series is coming to an end, but excited for what else Ramsower publishes when it’s done. 5 Stars!

Camilla Genovese is a woman who knows her wants and needs, she knows that exploring those needs wouldn’t be acceptable to many but she has to do it for herself so walking into The Lion’s Den feels right but when she is met with Filip DeLuca everything changes.
Filip DeLuca can only be described as intense. He is a man who needs dominance and control in every facet of his life, work & personal and when he sees Camilla the need to protect is strong but can it be too strong.
Camilla & Filip have chemistry that is off the charts but they will both have to overcome and navigate through some issues to come out on the other side of finding a way to becoming the people they both are meant to be and to be the couple that can find their HEA.

Holy hot stuff!

This was such a steamy book full of passion, lust and danger, and I loved for it! This book was pure entertainment. I usually don't read romance books that have a dangerous aspect to them but I have to admit, this was entertaining so I have to give them a try.

As this was the fifth book in the series, and also my first time reading this series, I realized I missed out! I have to go read the rest because this book hooked me! I need to read the other stories and the next one that got teased at the end of this book!

If you like your sexy romance with a hint of danger and true love, this is for you!

Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for the earc in return for an honest review.

Book 5 in the Five Families series. Camilla comes from a powerful family. When she decides to join a very exclusive club she is expecting her fantasies to be granted. Filip’s goal is to protect Camilla in every aspect of her life. Even if It means being her exclusive partner at the club. When these two get together sparks are flying and chemistry is on fire! The powerful emotional connection these two shared Definitely triggered other emotions in Filip. It was definitely a journey for these two emotionally. This was a great quick read with several layers that made it a very entertaining read.

Yowza, this story is hot, Hot, HOT. I thought my Kindle would spontaneously combust. Although this is part of a series, I have not read the other books and still enjoyed this one quite a bit. I really liked the characters of Filip and Camilla, and that drool-worthy cover made Filip even more desirable ;-). While the romance of this one certainly takes center stage, the underlying tension around the lurking evil that you know is going to pop up helps move the story along nicely. If you like mafia romances (heck, even if you don't), this one is definitely worth the read.

A sincere thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for providing an ARC for review.

Yes, finally! Having waited almost six months for another of my Five Families fix from Jill. And Jill has delivered yet again a unique story about the mafia families. This one is about Camilla Genovese (Giada's sister) and Filip DeLuca (Matteo's brother from Blood Always). And I must say, this one is a bit darker than the other parts. Although, in comparison with Ruthless Prince it is still pretty sunny.

But again, it is an intense story, with unexpected twists and turns. And as always, Jill keeps you guessing up until the last page.

Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Absolute Silence is the 5th book in the Five Families series. This is Filip and Camilla's story and it was a hott steamy tale with action, violence and some unexpected twists included. The chemistry between them is sizzling and their steamy scenes were explosive. These two characters both were flawed individuals with baggage from childhood which they need to overcome. Apart from the romance, there is a suspense element that will have you captivated and at the edge of your seat frantically turning the pages to find out more. I enjoyed this story, it was a great addition to this series and I would highly recommend it to lovers of mafia romance.

Oh I loved this book. Filip and Camilla were quite the couple. For a lot of the story I hated Filip, such a jerk. He was controlling, obsessive and just downright a jerk. In a couple of scenes i just wanted to wring his neck. But than he redeemed himself. Their chemistry was off the charts regardless of how he treated her. I thought I knew how the ending was going to go but I absolutely did not see what happened happen. I can't wait for the next book if anything like this one it will be fantastic

Absolute Silence is the fifth book in The Five Families Series but can be read as a standalone novel. This is the first book I read of Jill Ramsower and I want to go back and read the first four books of this series. Camilla is looking for something she needs in life and when she finally gets the courage to go to the The Lion’s Den club she runs into Filip De Luca. This story was amazing and hard to put down. I am excited for Val and Kane story.

I've thoroughly enjoyed every one of Jill Ramsower's Five Family series and this latest instalment is no exception. This time we have Camilla, who due to some things that happened to her when she was younger, has developed some slightly specialists tastes in the bedroom. When she joins a private sex club, she doesn't expect to run into her cousin's brother in law, Filip. Once she starts to spend time with him, the emotion and connection between them is off the scale and it's clear that there's a future for them both together.
This book isn't just about the romance and sexual side of their relationship. Camilla and Filip both have baggage from their childhood. In Camilla's case in particular, this has made her very much the woman that she is today and rather than avoiding that part of herself, she embraces it and encourages Filip to do the same. There is also a threat from Filip's past, which will test both of them.
This was a gripping and thrilling read with plenty of romance and heat. I believe that there's another book left in this fantastic series and I for one can't wait to get my hands on it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Jill Ramsower is such a great author! This is not my first read from her nor will it be my last! She delivers her stories in such a way that has me reading them over and over again!
This book did not let me down! I loved the story of Camilla and Filip. They meet at an unexpected place. A sex club of sorts. Camilla is there to explore her sexuality. Filip sees her there and flips; giving her an ultimatum that if she wants to continue to go to this club she has to experiment with him and no one else. This may seem controlling, it definitely is, but they are both part of mafia families and control is pretty much their middle name. The story evolves from here. We learn about Camillas past and why she is there and Filip starting to understand her and see “her”. The agreement between eventually becomes more but with that there are twists that the author develops so well within the story. You see something coming but you don’t know what it is and it will leave you saying “wow, she just did that!”
Overall this was an amazing read! I definitely recommend reading this book along with her others.

I received an ARC copy for an honest review of this book.

This is book five in "The Five Families" series and the story of Camilla Genovese and Flip DeLuca. Camilla has always felt she was different from her two sisters and that she didn't quite fit in, she strives for more and intends to pursue what she wants. Sexualy unsatisfied and being adventurous she joins "The Lions Den", a BDSM club hoping to find someone that will satisfy her and turn her exotic fantasies into reality. As Dante the club owner is giving Camilla a tour she runs into her cousins husband Matteo's youngest brother Flip. Flip knows Camilla's family would strongly object to her being a member of the club and tries to persuaded her to leave. Strong willed and defiant Camiila has her own ideas and the story only gets interesting from there. I have throughly enjoyed reading this series and this book is no exception, I'm giving it 4.5 stars.

This is the 5th book in this thrilling series and is Filip and Camilla’s journey. Filip is a regular member to a sex club where he can get satisfaction from his controlling nature, and Camilla joins this secret sex club looking for thills and exploring her dark side, and the last person she expects to meet is Filip, who is her cousins’ brother-in-law, but they may know each other but not very well. Sparks fly between these two, and they both have emotional baggage from their childhoods, and they are the perfect compliment for each other. This is a well written story which is dark, intense, emotional, thrilling, and steamy, which all leads to a riveting and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Hostile, hot, dangerous, and downright perfect!

I absolutely LOVED Camilla and Filip! Ramsower created an amazing explosion of romance, angst, steam, and redemption.

While it can be read as a standalone, I love the connection to the previous books. The cartel and its ever growing territory and connections is so well written and depicted. This truly feels like an arm of the previous books. This book was INTENSE. And I loved every word of it.

As usual, Ramsower writes some beautiful souls into her books and you can feel every letter of passion. Highly recommend!

Received a copy of this book for review.

The heat in this book!

Camilla, born into a mobbed up family wanted to be different. She studied and worked a regular job. In order to take a stab at being different, she joins a sex club. Little did she know it’s the same sex club that her cousins husbands brother frequents.

Both of them didn’t want a relationship but no matter how hard they tried, they were made for one another!

Awesome read.

Another outstanding story! Filip and Camilla started off as a negotiation, and ended in something more than either thought. Lots of hot steamy BDSM scenes mixed with lots of drama and action, make this a must read!
March 11, 2021
I received an ARC for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I don’t know how to put into words how great this book is. I would love more than anything to be able to reread this book for the first time.

“What if I didn’t allow myself to care what others desired from me? What if I focused on meeting my own needs and put myself first? In a way, we were taught as women that such a mindset was selfish. Was it, though? Who said I couldn't be the captain of my own ship?”

Camilla Genovese is not some weak girl. She works hard at her job that she hates and just became a member of the Lion's Den, a BDSM club. Though not all may be well, as she just found out Filip De Luca is also a member and has taken it upon himself to be her teacher. Will Camilla submit to Filip, or will she want more than he can give her?

“Filip wanted to know that I was his. How could I ever belong to anyone else? He possessed the key to my soul.”

Filip De Luca is the youngest brother of Matteo De Luca. Having been the boss’s younger brother wasn’t always the most fun. He mostly ran errands and was ready to have more responsibilities. However, he didn’t expect to see Camilla at the Lion's Den. Knowing that other men would be interested in hanging out with Camilla made his blood boil. Filip had no choice but to attach himself to her and protect her from some twisted people. Little did he expect to start falling for her.

Listen, I have never read two people who sound so much like myself. I am horrible at communicating what I want. Though I eventually get it right, sometimes later than I like. However, these two, Camilla and Filip, were fire hot. I wasn’t sure if I was going to want Filips controlling ways. As I read more, I was able to understand his background and what happened in his past. If you like some BDSM, some tease, fire hot scenes, and suspense....this book is for you!

“If I was willing to push past my own fears and bind myself to her, I refused to share. I wouldn’t just want her body or our time in that room. I would want all of her. Every ounce of her perfection and each painful crack that lay beneath.”

I highly recommend this book and this series. I am, however, saddened that it is coming to an end. This series has been one fantastic journey.

Jill ABSOLUTELY SLAYED and brought her A-Game w/ Absolute Silence!! 10/10 5++++ Stars

Alright Jill, first things first, you ABSOLUTELY SLAYED this newest addition to the Five Families Series!! I COULD NOT put this book down, trust me I tried! I'll be the first to admit when you released teasers over the last few months prior to the book release I wasn't entirely sure where this storyline was going to go. I was so wrong, you totally blew my mind with how this story developed and that ending...I'm dead!! I did not see that ending or the plot twist coming!

Now let's talk about my new favorite couple Filip and Camilla. These two were so well written and pushed this book to my new number 1 spot in the series ranking. This is saying a lot since I was positive nothing could top my love for Matteo and Maria's Book, Blood Always. However you threw another De Luca brother into the mix and now Matteo and Filip are fighting for the top spot! Trust me, I could go on and on about how amazing this book is and the too hot to trot storyline, but go read this story for yourself! Just make sure you have your favorite caffeinated beverage handy since I promise you won't be able to put this book down. You will most definitely being staying up all night to finish this gem!

Absolute Silence by Jill Ramsower is book 5 in The Five Families Series. This is the story of Filip De Luca and Camilla Genovese. I have read the previous book which did add to my enjoyment of this one but I do feel it can be a standalone book if you wish to do so. Camilla is looking for something that is missing from her life. This leads her to the Lion's Den to jump into the BDMS world. Camilla of course doesn't want anyone to know that she has come there to experiment with the different options they have. But fate is not with her...or is it? Camilla runs into Filip there and he is the brother of her cousin. Filip is someone that works to keep his emotions to himself and doesn't want to engage his heart. But he is so puzzled about how his feelings start to develop each time he is with her.
Loved their story and would recommend this book. I can't wait to read more from this author.
