John Stanton Easily my favorite album this year through March! Fantastic prog either way influence from btbam and Children of Bodom. The way they cram different passages together really shines in this whole album. Double Vision Roll has a awesome chorus that would make Alexi from Bodom really happy Favorite track: Double Vision Roll.

Warangelic This, without a sliver of doubt, is what BTBAM would sound like if they tried writing a Children of Bodom album. Playful in its writing and execution, this album perfectly encapsulates what a technical melodeath release should be. Favorite track: Wake Up.

progdolphin In a rose-colored vision of what progressive death metal can be, Frogg finds a freedom in fanciful melody, brief poppy breaks, and unrestrained (but not all encompassing) musical showmanship. Pulling the rip to progressive twist of Between the Buried and Me with the focus of tight structures and virtuosic play, Eclipse, as a debut full-length, spins scales and riffs with all the fidgeting whirr and tongue-out gambol for which a thirsting prog fan could ask. Favorite track: Wake Up.

Gmurphrygian Just the perfect amount of technical wizardry mixed with occasional brutality, and sprinkled with some djenty goodness. The music is a maze of endless twists and turns. There is such fine musicianship on display here, holy shit 🤯! Thanks for the journey, Frogg! Favorite track: Wake Up.

Ulcerate has got to be one of the most consistent death metal bands out there. ‘Cutting the Throat of God’ is an excellent addition to an already stellar catalog. It undulates with densely atmospheric, dissonant, progressive, pummeling death metal and the occasional lighter passage to give some breathing room. As always with Ulcerate the drumming is what stands out the most to me, especially the use of cymbals. 8/10 RJ
