What is security? And whose security is important to us?
By the end of this week, numerous heads of state, foreign and defense ministers, Nobel Laureates, civil society leaders, MPs, MEPs, and many more will gather in Munich for the 60th edition of the Munich Security Conference.
Traditionally, discussions about security have focused on state and militarized security, predominantly from a male perspective. At the Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy, we recognize that this approach is inadequate. Without a holistic view of security, including from a feminist perspective, lasting peace and security will remain elusive.
In 2020, CFFP organized the first-ever event on feminist foreign policy at the Munich Security Conference. Since then, we have been actively involved in organizing various events, and for the past two years, we have hosted the prestigious and eagerly anticipated feminist women’s only dinner in collaboration with FRAUEN100.
This Friday marks the third edition of our feminist women’s only dinner, and I am thrilled to announce our distinguished keynote speakers:
✨Jody Williams, US-American Nobel Peace Laureate
✨Kaja Kallas, Prime Minister of Estonia
✨Maria Ressa, Philippine Nobel Peace Laureate
✨Nancy Faeser, Interior Minister of Germany
✨Tirana Hassan, Human Rights Watch Executive Director
The theme of the evening will be:
„Confronting Escalating Antifeminism and Authoritarianism: Safeguarding Women’s Rights in an Urgent Global Context”
In addition to the keynote speakers, our dinner (which is already oversubscribed🙏) will be attended by approximately 100 of the most senior women leaders present at the MSC.
Peace cannot be achieved without feminism.
This is why we are hosting this event. We are committed to reshaping narratives and priorities in the fight to defend women’s rights and combat rising authoritarianism.
