SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Brex, the company reimagining finance for growing businesses, today announced the Brex API. This new open API is available to all Brex customers, free of charge. The Brex API allows customers to seamlessly manage financial information in a customizable interface, thereby saving time, reducing errors, and better meeting the needs of their own customers and vendors. For customers without in-house developers, Brex also announced a partnership with Zapier, which will allow customers to automate workflows among products without having to write a single line of code.

Brex & Zapier

With the Brex API, developers can build workflows that are customized for their company’s individual needs. The Brex API facilitates transactions across key company processes:

  • Payments: Brex customers can easily and automatically connect with other internal systems to send ACH, wire transfers, or checks from their Brex Cash accounts. This enables seamless experiences for vendors.
  • Teams: Brex customers can easily create and manage users through the API. This allows them to bulk onboard new employees and manage reorganizations. Once employees are onboarded, they can easily be issued virtual cards with customizable spend controls.
  • Transactions: Brex customers can grant secure access to all their Brex account transactions, in turn allowing their customers to easily reconcile statements, monitor activity, and create reports.
Brex Integrations

“As soon as I read through Brex’s developer documentation, I knew Brex’s payment API could save our company a ton of time,” says Denis Bellavance, the CTO of home inspection and repair marketplace Inspectify. “Within a day, I was able to automate sending hundreds of payments per week, saving me 20 hours per month of sending payments manually. We’ve also seen a significant reduction in payment errors.”

Brex’s API helped Maroo, a buy-now-pay-later wedding financing company, significantly improve the user experience for its customers. “Maroo’s network of wedding professionals get paid sooner than they would otherwise, building loyalty that will help Maroo scale operations in the US,” said Maroo co-founder Andrei Riaskov.

Zapier

Brex is also announcing an integration with no-code platform Zapier, giving non-technical Brex customers the ability to easily use the Brex API, even if they cannot code. Customers can connect any of the more than 4,000 apps supported by Zapier to their Brex accounts. For example, if a customer is managing a budget in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel, Zapier will automatically create a new vendor account in Brex and provision a payment card based on data entered into the spreadsheet.

“We believe financial systems should be open, giving customers complete control over their financial data, and the ability to customize based on their needs,” said Henrique Dubugras, Brex co-CEO. “With Brex’s API and Zapier support, we’re putting the power in all of our customers’ hands to ensure their finances work the way their companies need them to.”

These announcements follow the release of several other new integrations from Brex, including Xero and Slack, along with the recent $50 million acquisition of Weav, a universal API for commerce platforms. Together, these announcements signal Brex’s commitment to delivering a financial operating system that is open by design.
