Join the talk on the first day of the UXPA2025 International Conference! 🚀 Leading Design Without Losing Your Soul by Mario Van der Meulen 👏 👉 What's the talk about: Unlock your inner design leader and what it means to be a true design leader! Many designers shy away from leadership roles, preferring to stay in their creative zone. They see leaders as stressed, disconnected, and overwhelmed, fearing the same fate. How many ground-breaking ideas, how many world-changing innovations have slipped through our fingers because the road seemed too tough to traverse? Leading design doesn’t have to mean losing your spark. This isn’t your typical business leadership talk that misses the mark for design leaders. Based on proven techniques from a veteran in the industry, this talk is about thriving, and maintaining your creative spirit while leading design teams. The whole program is varied and packed with top-class speakers. On the first day of the conference, we will have talks by the following speakers: Mitali Kamat, Bhavya Gupta, Sundeep Myneni, Ph.D., Mario Van der Meulen, Anne Joutsenvirta, Stefan Barac, Ahmad ALhuwwari 🇵🇸🇵🇸, Jon G. Today we want to present another exciting Pre-Conference Workshop! 👏 Data Mindfulness – Designing With Data in Mind by Claudia Gutierrez #emergingtechnologies #entrylevel 👉 What is the workshop about: AI is based on data and as AI is hype, data is the new gold. But do we keep track of our own data? Are we mindful of what we save: our emails, our photos? We are our own datasets. With a Mindfulness metaphor, this session plans to explore how to understand, use and design tailored experiences using data from the user we know best: us. Through practical exercises on a Generative AI platform, the session will go deeper on how to upload, categorize, classify, process and identify patterns in the attendees own data, finishing with a design prototype tailored with their personal info. Attendees will learn what is data, the types of data, how is modeled and processed, and how it can be visualized in an interface. Also, they will learn about the risks and challenges that design faces when working with data by reflecting in their personal information. Pre-conference workshops can be booked seperately. Early bird tickets for the Conference itself are still available until the end of the week - March 15th! The whole program is varied and packed with top-class speakers. On the pre-conference day, we will start with workshops by the following speakers Jason Telner, Jon G. Temple, Annette Tassone, Ph.D., Tyler Waite, Lauren Schaefer, Sarah Nikkhah, Ph.D., Luz Delgado, Aurelie Lafont 🧢🎗️💚, Luke Hay, Sidharath Chhatani, Bailey Lewis, Ben Sauer, Dr. John Pagonis, Sotiris Sotiropoulos, Rachana Ranade, Pongkhi Bujorbarua, Ph.D., Chris Becker, MFA, Ahmad Ramadan, Salvatore Larosa, Thomas Watkins, Claudia Bruckschwaiger, Clemens Lutsch, Hanna Köhler Find the link to the conference Website in the first comment! #UXPA2025 #amsterdam #conference

So excited for another great issue! https://uxpajournal.org/
The February 2025 issue of the Journal of User Experience is now live! The essay in this issue is “Help or Hubris: Certifications in UX and Human-Centered Design,” by Clemens Lutsch. Prof. Lutsch addresses the current state of certification in UX and HCD, including who offers certificates, who needs certifications, and how certification should enrich our professional field. This issue also includes two research papers: one on the mystery calling research method, and another on the development and use of a streamlined version of a standardized questionnaire for the assessment of the UX of mobile apps. The first article is “Who’s There? Mystery Calling for UX Research,” by Michael Madson, Yoshita Gade, and Unnati Srivastava. The authors describe the mystery calling method, discuss its pros and cons (including probable effects of AI on the method), and recommend best practices. The second article is “Streamlining the SUPR-Qm: The SUPR-Qm V2,” by James R. Lewis and Jeff Sauro. Following up on the publication of the first version of the SUPR-Qm in 2017, the authors replicated the original model, identified redundant items to arrive at a 5-item version, demonstrated the stability of the original and streamlined versions, and developed interpretive norms (including curved grading scales). Also, Bill Albert, PhD and I want to express our appreciation to our editorial board of reviewers who volunteer their time to maintain the quality of the Journal and help to keep it free of charge for contributors and readers. The first comment below has a link to the February 2025 issue and our current list of reviewers.

So yes! We have a whole host of great workshops the day before the conference and talks at UXPA2025 in Amsterdam. We will share the program with you in the coming weeks. 🥳 The next 4-hour workshop on our list is: Soft Skills for UX Professionals – Discover Your Strengths by Clemens Lutsch, Hanna Köhler and Claudia Bruckschwaiger. 👉 What is the workshop about: In addition to daily work with the help of solid knowledge and “hard skills”, soft skills are even more crucial for UX professionals due to interdisciplinary work and the emergence of AI, which may automate tasks. In the areas of communication, self-organization and teamwork, they face new challenges every day. But it is also valuable for the management of projects today to know and promote the strengths and weaknesses of employees and to be able to force the right composition in the team. Based on the focus areas in UX (based on the definition of the International Accreditation for UX Professionals), a guideline is given as to which soft skills bring particular added value in which areas. This workshop session provides tools to discover your own strengths and supposed weaknesses, either alone or together in a team, and to strengthen your personal soft skills with the help of exercises. Pre-conference workshops can be booked seperately. Early bird tickets for the Conference itself are still available until the end of the week - March 15th! The whole program is varied and packed with top-class speakers. On the pre-conference day, we will start with workshops by the following speakers Claudia Gutierrez, Jason Telner, Jon G.
