Before I started my dream job, I worked in marketing strategy for around 15 years in Amsterdam, New York, Chicago, Singapore, and finally, Ho Chi Minh City.
I spoke at conferences across the world and wrote for a large number of publications. I then made my "life pivot" in 2017, when I decided to pursue my "Ikigai" of letting people find their purpose and design their everyday life towards it.
I spend time not “working” with my wife and son.

What are some of the most common remote work myths and realities?
Remote teams are more productive than in-office teams, largely because they can more seamlessly blend work and life, and are not interrupted by colleagues, allowing them to retain their focus. In 2023 research from FlexOS, 65% of remote managers say their team's productivity has increased vs. the in-office days, and 100% trust their team to be productive online. 68% say that their own productivity has increased now that they are remote. A 2020 study by Stanford University furthermore found that remote workers are 13% more productive than their office counterparts.

How can you effectively communicate in virtual or hybrid work environments?
It's crucial to design your hybrid communications for equality. One of the main challenges research shows employees have is because of technology. You probably have experienced a meeting where you joined online while a group of people were together offline. The online participant rarely is equally 'present' in the room. To solve this, new habits have to be introduced, like everyone logging in to the meeting from their own computer. High-quality cameras and one or more microphones increase the seamlessness of communications amongst all participants regalrdess of location. Another issue of equality is information asymmetry when the in-person team discusses matters before or after the meeting. In equitable meetings, this is avoided.

How can you manage remote collaboration better?
Effective remote collaboration begins with the right remote collaboration tools. We've invested in collaboration software that enables both real-time and asynchronous work. From experience, it's key to align these tools with your team's specific needs, goals, personalities, strengths, and experiences. I'm not saying you need a Meyers-Briggs test for virtual meeting software, but differences do exist. While one team does their best work on Microsoft Teams, other teams would excel with Google Meet or even a virtual meeting platform like Butter. Choosing a platform that fits seamlessly with your team increases the chances that they'll actively use it, and enjoy working together through it.

When I moved to New York in the fall of 2010 I was shocked to learn 1 in 8 people here are not sure when their next meal is going to be. Food Bank For New York City warehouses and distributes free food for over 1.5 million hungry New Yorkers each year. Wherever I can I helped out on projects, that ranged from handing out flyers to selling raffle tickets on fundraisers.

Patronaat is one of the top 10 art halls in the Netherlands but with one key differentiator: it is run for a big part by volunteers. Those volunteers make sure that people from the region around Haarlem are able to see art without relying on major government support or having to raise ticket prizes to insane levels.

Stop Repurposing Content: The Web (And Your Consumer) Deserves More
Videonomics Chicago 2013 Presentation
Even when brands grasp the full potential of digital video, marketers tend to steer away from working with original online video content. After all, that TV spot was already shot and the costs have been sunk. We’ll share two examples (one is about serving moms the content they crave, the other how search usage can inform content development) that both of which are true testaments to how digital video creation can be a very nimble effort. We’ll show brands how they can get the content they need,…

From .com to .brand - an OgilvyOne POV on gTLDs
OgilvyOne
ICANN will soon be accepting applications for the creation of new gTLDs (generic Top-Level Domains), which will allow companies to take ownership of branded domains such as .coke or .ibm, or more generic domains such as .money or .food. The shift from a .com-centric to a .brand-centric domain architecture carries the potential to dramatically alter the online landscape and represents a transformative opportunity for brand. The 'What If' Solution
For the 2009 global Ogilvy summit, where CEO Miles Young unfolded his agency plan for the next 5 years, selected employees worldwide were asked to write an essay about one of its main themes: pervasive creativity.
