Community Guidelines

The Bloom’s definition of community:

The Bloom’s community: a space where diverse impact-driven leaders come together for joyful real-time exchanges to learn, have fun, and grow. As stated on our website, “We’re fighting systemic violence, we’re fighting the climate crisis, we’re fighting inequality, we’re fighting for change. We deserve a place of hope and inspiration.”

Although The Bloom has had this effect up until 2022, the next stage of our work is to create consistent space for “place of hope and inspiration” to be something experienced together with others – The Bloom has been more of a one-way street, and through this launch we open a village full of joyful streets where members can connect and see one another while receiving unique resources to bloom into best selves.

Expectations from all members:

The Bloom’s community is driven by one key expectation: reciprocity.

We expect all members to step into the Bloom community with a principle of value exchange: come to the space willing to give as much as you are to take. This, of course, fluctuates with time and personal capabilities, but it’s the overall mindset of reciprocity that’s a fundamental quality of members we welcome.

Our members understand that ecosystems thrive when we move away from the extractive mindset nourished in capitalistic systems and towards mutual flourishing. Therefore, if you are joining this community merely looking for “fast value” in the form of jobs and networks – then this community is not for you.

Community Guidelines:

🌳 Tenderness → we try to practice tenderness with each other and ourselves; we hope to collectively redefine what leadership looks like and nourish a community defined by softness, kindness, and care. To reclaim these as traits of power and growth.

🌺 Joy → we center joy and play because it’s essential to cultivate a resilient community. Building a new decolonized world is tough work, as Adrienne Maree Brown reminds us, justice must feel pleasurable for it to be sustainable.

🤝 Intersectionality → We show up in this space through an awareness of cultural diversity, and we embrace this diversity by acknowledging the complexity of emotional and cultural nuances that the members of the community embody. Many of us hold multiple identities that have been historically oppressed; we make space for these experiences and try to address structural barriers in society from an intersectional justice perspective.

🐝 Community Care → we contribute to engaging with the community activities, we participate in the life of this community and co-create the community experience. We are here to receive and experience the community value but also to give and shape this value actively by contributing to support other members and participate in the community exchange.

💫 Mutual Respect & Privacy→ we participate in common spaces where people should feel safe to share experiences, ideas and personal content. We interact, create and exchange content to support the community member’s growth; to build trust with one another, we ask before sharing information outside The Garden, and we always give credit to the creators.

✋🏼 Zero Tolerance for Discrimination, Hate Speech & Abuse → we have a 0 tolerance policy for any form of discrimination, hate speech, abuse and harassment. Members who engage in any of these behaviors will be immediately let go.
