Our latest report with Sasakawa Peace Foundation / 公益財団法人 笹川平和財団 and Integral Knowledge Asia explores how ideas of masculinity, both prior to, during, and after armed conflict, influence the power and place of women in post-conflict societies. The report has six findings showing that after conflict, masculinities are reconstructed. While women are influencing decisions, often in less visible ways, elite, male-dominated institutions, combined with cultural and economic barriers, continue to confine women to caretaking or homemaking roles, gatekeeping their political and economic opportunities. I get asked why I left Oxfam to join the IRMA Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance. Yesterday, Time published a great primer on where #irma comes from and why there is no other #mining Standard or assurance system like it. As Aimee Boulanger says, it is radical work, what we are doing. Of course, giving workers, Indigenous peoples, and mining affected communities the same power as the private sector shouldn't seem so radical.   https://lnkd.in/ePU4xVc9
